BY ROCKY HASH In the end, Faulkner, on his Pax Racing- Chase Kilfoyle scored his first-ever 80cc Beginner-class victory and he did it in style by winning both motos during Saturday's 1 competition. However. Kilfoyle was not as fortunate in Sunday's program after mountainbiker-tumed-motocrosser Shaun Hillion from Big Bear showed up to steal the show with a pair of moto wins. Chris Plouffe has shown great improvement, runnjng and hjding in both 65cc motos during Sunday's event. Plouffe not only won the younger 65cc (7-9) division but also the older 65cc (10-11) contest as well en route to a romp of the 65cc division. The Alessi brothers were back in action this weekend. Older brother Mike was true to form, taking a double-moto win in the Supermini class on Saturday. His brother Jeff picked up the gauntlet on Sunday for top hon- ors in the same class. Cllff Houser Yamaha-mounted Steve Holtman led the Amateur Over 40 pack for two laps. Then it was Don Wallace's time to shine, and he simply flew his Suzuki into the lead and stayed there for a first-place finjsh. Ricky Anderson carded a second-place finish, getting past several other racers after starting in fourth off the gate, and he was followed in by Gary Eaker. Anderson had the second moto locked up from the start with his holeshot start and an insurmountable lead all eight laps. Wallace followed him in with second. Bill Bouman bounded in with third. Bill Malone was out with the Amateur Over 50 lead for two laps at the start. Then Dennis Rosenberg took charge after he passed Maione on lap three. However, Steve Jennings had the winning bike, as he passed Rosenberg and then held him off for five laps for the victory. Rosenberg stayed right behind him and crossed over for second, and Jack Goodhue slotted third. Honda-mounted Frank Derby led the action in moto two for a fast two laps until an even faster Jennings blazed past. Rosenberg soon ripped past Jennings and looked to be the winner, but once again Jennings flew past to own tbe win, leaving Rosenberg with second and Goodhue chasing in with third. In Novice Over 40 action, Jim Williams flew in with two first-place wins and Richard Lamis mled both second slots. Ed Rodzach has had a winning streak going for some time now, and once again he had the techniques to beat all the other Over 50 Novices to the finish line both times out. Dave Hickerson tucked his CR250 into second, while Jason Chism jockeyed up into third. Patrick Stevenson was run· ning fourth, and Ed Reyes held fifth. By lap three, Wilburn scratched out a fivesecond lead, while Chism had managed to push his RM250 into second place. One rider on the move was Chuck Golob, who had started poorly but was up to fifth by the halfway mark. Out front, Wilburn was steady with the lead, stretching it to seven seconds. Hickerson was not giving in, and soon he was looking to repass Chism for second. As the white flag came out, the two riders rode side by side. Wilburn coasted in for the moto win, while Hickerson managed to put a last-lap pass on Chism for second. Golob settled for fourth, and Reyes filled out the top five. Rudy C _ (Yom). las Vegas Motocross Club Parker Puts One Away By DICK GOODWIN LAS VEGAS, NV, DEC. 10 "Mighty" Michael Parker put the hammer down on his fellow mini cycle competitors. winning the aocc combined class with ease. Since it was the last Las Vegas Motocross Club race of the season, Parker wanted to go out with a bang. Suzuki hotshoe Josh LaFountaine jumped out to the early lead in race one, with Tony Esposito, Tony Caputo and Parker right on his heels. Parker wasted no time leapfrogging past the other riders until he grabbed the lead at the off-camber sweeper. Once out in front. he 'Ieft the field to fight over second. Caputo and Anthony Hart were battling furiously, with Esposito and Patrick Provencher scrapping right behind them, when half the front-runners piled up in the off-camber sweeper, taking out Caputo, Hart and Provencher. LaFountaine had second place staked out and he wasn't about to give it up, racing comfortably in front of the speeding Esposito, who was now solidly in third. As Parker flashed through the pipes for the win, LaFountaine led Esposito and Wesley Harris in for spots two through four. Esposito was the man in the second stanza, leading Caputo and laFountaine out onto the course. Parker was even further back this time, so it took him a little longer, but onethird of the way through the lap, he was back in his customary spot in the lead. laFountaine was once again entrenched in second. A wild brawl was going on behind him for third, with Provencher battling Esposito, Harris and Hart. Parker put it on cruise control and romped home with win number two, ensuring him of the overall 80cc (12-16) crown. laFountaine guaranteed himself second overall with another solid performance, coming across in second. In the battle for third, Provencher finally prevailed over Esposito, Harris and Hart. Esposito's total score vaulted him into third overall. After watching Parker beat up on the Mini riders, Jason Brown decided to try his luck against the big dogs in the 250cc Intermediate class.
