Collier caught up to the Yamaha of the new graduate to the Intermediate class, Meineke, who tried everything he could to keep Collier behind him, but he just didn't have the speed, and Collier blasted by him through the whoops. Although Collier had a ton of momentum coming from fourth to second, he couldn't match Griffm's speed. Griffin was too strong in this moto for the rest of the field. One rider who was able to match Griffin's lap times was Shane KelleYi despite a horrible start, Kelley put on an epic ride to move up to third. At the checkered flag, it was the Temecula MotorsportsfSketcher-backed Griffin with the win, followed by Honda of Houstonbacked Collier in second and Noleen-backed Kelley in third. In the second moto, Kelley snagged the holeshot, with Griffin and Collier following. Griffin quickly tried to dive to the inside of Kelley, but Kelley kept his speed to defend against Griffin's attack for the lead. Kelley had a line through the whoops that was unmatched; he would clear the entire section, and that seemed to make the difference between him and Griffin. Meanwhile, Collier sat in an unconte"sted third. Kelley W8S able to maintain about a four~second lead over Grif· fin. At the checkered flag, it was Kelly taking the second·moto win, with Griffin in second and Collier in third. Second place in the sec· ond moto gave the overall win to Griffin, and it put him three points from the 125cc Interrnedjate Holiday Series championship with one race remaining. Results Perris Raceway a lap, Curran leaped past Martin on the finishline tabletop to take the lead. "I usually don't like to jump that far, but my new girl was in the stands, so I had to do it," said Curran, who kept the lead all the way to the checkers. "I knew all I had to do was beat Craig [Martin], so I let Curran past," said Mark Martin. Adams, watching the overall slip through his grasp, was riding like a madman and passing riders at will. Los Angeles County Raceway Martin Manhandles OTHG Novices By CHRIS SANCHIRJCO PALMDALE,CA.DEC.3 With the 2000 Over The Hill Gang season winding down, Mark Martin sped up, going 2-2 on the day for the overall victory. The OTHG ran Los Angeles County Raceway's back track - "Shadow Glenn" - which was well-received by the Vet racers. The track is not as extreme as the front track, but it is still filled with enough obstacles to get any racer's adrenaline going. Some 25 Over 38 Novices lined up at the gate for a shot at snaring the precious holeshot, which went to Reide Franke, aboard his YZ426F. In tow were Martin, Jimbo Holman and Jack Tanner. Charging through the field on a YZI25 was local rider John Adams, who had the track wired. Adams appeared very comfortable on the sandy terrain, and he wasted little time as he picked off riders like Results By KENNY MORRIS PERRIS, CA, DEC. 4 Mickey Griffin scored a 1-2 tally to take the overall win in the 125cc Intermediate class at the fourth round of the Holiday Series at Perris Raceway, When the gate dropped for the first moto, Griffin grabbed the holeshot, with Spencer Meineke and Bjorn Anderson following. With Griffin setting the pace, a battle shaped up for Henderson's Arena Complex Grosz, Craig Martin and Tanner. Grosz was Dunaway Done It Again holding on to third while Martin and Tanner applied pressure. As the trio entered the long back double, Grosz backed off; Martin attempted a pass but stumbled when Long Beach MotorsportsfAria-backed Tanner passed both riders to claim third. Adams scored a big win at the checkers, followed by Mark Martin and Tanner. At round one of the AMS Ohio Arenacross Series, Dunaway was, without a doubt, the fastest man in the arena. Though a costly mistake in the 250cc A main cost him some money, as he had to settle for fifth place, a dominant Dunaway got a quick start and pulled away from the hearty throng of competitors in the 125cc A main, leaving the rest to battle for second place. The 250cc A main belonged to young Chris Whitcraft, another member of the large and talented F&S Suzuki crew. The fresh young Pro battled Illinois' Brian Mason for the win.
