At the start of the first comb ined Vet mota, Brock judd (no relation to the race track) took the holesh ot and the Pro win . In the Vet Interm ed iate category, "Leaping" Lenny Suppes, who was on the inju red list a nd rid ing for points only, ended up with the moto win. He thanked the other Int erm edi ate rider s, Richa rd McCullou gh, wh o placed seco nd , and Ted Mink, who was third, for crashing and letting him have the po ints. In the Vet ju nior class, Robert Smith took the win and finished in front of all the Intermed iate rid ers. Scott Thom pson was seco nd a nd " Ba t ~ tlin g" Bill Flagg was third . john Es trada took fou rth, jo n McNew fifth, Dan She p herd sixth, and Ken Carr, returning afte r a bad wreck four ' mont hs ago, pulled off a seventh-place finis h . The Vet Jun ior con test started out the same as in th e first moto, with Smith taking the mota wi n and the overall , bu t Estrada too k seco nd and second overall . Shephe rd picked up a spo t from moto one and clinched fifth overa ll. jon McNew too k sixth for the mo to and seventh overall. Flagg had a bad moto but still ma naged to ga mer fifth ove ra ll.
