A cold fron t earlier in the week left beh ind per fect rid ing tempera-. lu res and moist, tack y trail cond itions. The Wild 'Hare 100 had something for everyo ne: a fast motocross section, technica l uphills, pine sect ions with bermed tu rn s, and' tight han dlebar-twistin g sections. Stephen Ed mondso n took th e AA holeshot. However, by the time the pack had reached the end of th e motocrosscourse, Yamaha rider Jason Greer had taken th e lead . Gr eer nicked a tr ee at hig h velocity and was sent off the trail, alIowing Edmond son to tak e back the T lead . Kawasaki ri der Daniel Morrison g ained on Greer and th ey battled for second . Greer bounced off a few trees, and Mo rrison slid by him to chase after Edmondson. Morrison and Edmo ndson swa p ped the lead a few tim es during the last lap, with Morrison tak ing con trol. In th e last section, Edmondson' s attempt to retake the lead was th wa rted when a lapped rider pulled over fo r Morrison but jumped ou t in front of Edmondson . Mo rrison came th rou gh the fin ish barrels with the overall win, a nd Edmondson was second . Gre er pulIed it toge ther to finish third . And rew Williams ca me around the corner in firs t in th e 200cc A class. Wi lliams was q uick ly overtaken by Hus qva rna ride r David White, who set a b listeri ng p a ce to ta ke th e class win. Meanwhile, Kawasaki ride r Ch ad Parker bat tled with Williams for second . At th e huge uphill, Williams hesitated to scope ou t a good line. Parker plowed by and used the line he had found on the prev ious d ay' s hike ar ound the course. Parker go t comfortable in second u nt il the last checkpoint, w hen he saw Yamaha rid er Bryan Happ le ou t of the corner of his eye . Parker turned it up a not ch an d came through the finish in second. Happle came through the b arrels in third. Kawasaki rider Tony Deal and Suzuki rider Travis Jones were banging handlebars coming out of the w hoops and onto the tabletop of the motocros s course. By the end of the first lap, Deal was in control of the lead, with Honda rider David Ashley and Jones right behind him . Deal took w hat he thou ght was a quicker inside li ne o n a small bridge crossing, but he had to pU.l,on the brakes to make the hard turn back onto the course, which slowed him down just enough fo r Ashley to slide b y on the fourth -lap. Deal's rear tire was trash ed by a roc ky cr eek be d , ending h is race prematurely. Jones to ok up th e cha rge, ge tting within six seconds of Ashl ey. How ever, Jon es ' a t te m p ts were spoiled b y th e huge uphill. Jones picked his bike up off the hillside a nd recovered in time to take seco nd . Yamaha rid er RandalI Ellison rode consistently for third. Yama ha rider Eric Hvtinen stretched out a comfortabl e le ad in th e Fo urStro ke A-c lass s tar t. Soon after, he stalled in the woods, an d Yamaha rider , Jeff Solinger ma de the pass for the lead. H ytine ~ caught So lin g e r o n t h e motocross track and stalled ou t in th e woods, letting Solinger by again.
