Marlboro Yamaha's Max Biaggi recently completed the first tests of his pre-season at the Sepang circuit in MalaYSia,
according to Cycle News contributor
Paolo Gozzi. Biaggi tested for two days at
the track, lapping at a best of 2:06.6 under the lap record set in 1998 by Mick
Doohan (2:07.213) and also under the
pole position time for last year's Grand
Prix of 2:06.848. He did so despite complaints about the surface of the racetrack.
"One year ago this surface was perfect. "
Biaggi said. "But after the F1 car GP last
October, now we have some problem."
The test was the first for Biaggi and his
new crew chief Fiorenzo Fanali, who last
year was the technical director of Yamaha's World Superbike effort. Biaggi's
teammate Carlos Checa wasn't on
hand for the test. The Spaniard recently
underwent surgery on his right arm to fix
some damage he incurred last season.
