checkered flag in the four race Texas Indoor Championship Series. Hull, aboard his dad's trusty Rotax, pulled the holeshot and proceeded to severely trounce the field, which included several National Championship contenders, to pick up the lion's share of the posted $3000 purse. Second-generation speedster Brandon Cartwright sliced his way through the pack in the first few laps into the runner up spot while the "big guns" were mired in traffic. The youngster from Sapulpa, Oklahoma, finished in the second position, just ahead of Tulsa's Victor McAnally. Both were Rotax-mounted. Mark Burch from Lake Charles, Louisiana, put his Honda into fourth place by the checkers, ahead of Texan Jason Tyer. Claremore, Oklahoma's Michael Hinds outlasted six restarts (due to crashes) in the overexuberant Pro Sport 600cc class. A.J. Eslick was tossed out of the competition by race officials after his banzai moves resulted in wrecks in the first three starts; Hinds was involved in at least two of the incidents. The fourth start provided yet another crash, and while the cleanup was under way, A.J.'s mother, Beth, convinced the officials to put the young rider back into the field, only starting on the back straightaway. Blane Fore kept his Yamaha in second place to the finish, while Eslick passed Billy Beavers and Jennifer Snyder in the final laps to come home third. Eslick's tuner, Jerry Post, absconded with the holeshot in the Mad Dog Mini field and cruised to the victory over Texans Jack Yost, Dustin Cantrell and Ted York. All were Honda-mounted. In 250cc Pro Sport action, A.J. Eslick was again the star of the field, taking the win on his Suzuki over the Hondas of David Khoury, Snyder and Beavers. Kansas veteran ~i11 Snyder jumped into the lead at the start of the Vintage Pro final, but by the end of the second lap he had given way to Aaron Jones of Texas. The two Honda riders finished that way, ahead of Yamaha riders Mitch Hovden and Alan Moriarty. In 883 action, Victor McAnally took off and hid from the field to notch the win. Arkansan Mark Witham finished second over Alabama's Mike Speh. Greg Warford took fourth in his first 883 race, while Stephanie Welch made the long tow down from Michigan to pick up the final points she needed to turn Expert. The Vintage Singles and Vintage Twins ran together (though they were scored separately), with Dunlop Tire executive Brian Fleck grabbing the _ Box 19001 Greenville, SC 29602 M' helin conVmoto . h fn Two Wheel DePt., PO I CaIlSn/242-3325 or visit For more information, wnte M,c e 2000 Formula USJI SchlJllullJ AC1dltlonal events may be added • March 2-5 Daytona International Speedway Daytona Beach, Florida • April 28-30 Pocono International Raceway long pond. pennsylvania • October 6-8 Las vegas Motor Speedway nelliSDR sail 51 n at ticketmaster.com Portland International Raceway portland, Oregon • August 2S-27 .
