aft er the first loo p, Athe-rton had a six-poi n t lap,
while- his fr iend Eri kson had some ca rbu re tion
problems (d ue to the 6ooo-foot elevation) th at
co ntrib u ted to his drop pin g 11 points on the firs t
go-arou nd . In fourth pl ace with 21 points was
forme r PITS regu lar Mary Rock, who was so rt ing things out on her Tl125 Honda af ter an
extended abs en ce from the trials scene. Rock ta llied a 21-poin t effort on th e first I ~lP of her return
to competition.

in a close battle for second place goin g in to the
fina l loop . Meanw hile, Rock im p roved from her
first loop wi th an I S-point lap.
