on his way to the wins on a perfect nigh t for motocross. In the 12Scc B class, which was ru n with the 125cc A class, Hartshorn took the holes ho t a nd never looked back. Series points lead er Tom Moore got ca ug ht in a battl e between A rid er Jim Chapman a nd B riders Derek Sturgell and Ch ris Leadbea ter . YZ-mou nted Moor e passed the Suzuki-mounted Leadbeater and Kawasaki jockey Sturgell. Moor e then went to work on Chapman and his CRI25. These two circled the track togeth er for a coup le of lap s befor e Moore was finally able to make hi s move . By the time Moore made it into second, th ou gh, Hartshorn was gone. Hartshorn's victory was mad e more sweet by the fact that he has had his difficulties in the 125cc B class during this series. For the last couple of rou nd s, Hartshorn has had to chase down Moor e a nd then, once in the lead , he has gone down a nd handed it back to Moore. Blizzard - and friends- warm up Frozen Ocean B YSUEDENMAN AUBURN,NY,JULY24 Friends and family came to wa tch and race in the Jon Right m ire Memorial Race a t Frozen Ocean Stadi umcross. Righ tmi re, 24, raced for 10 yea rs an d finis hed out fro nt in the Expert classes at Frozen Ocean Stadi umcross races for more than four years, and he was in the poi nts lead in Jul y of 1998 when he died in a crash on a pra ct ice mot ocross tr ack in Groton. N ew Yor k. In Jon 's memory, a special Budd y Race was conduc te d at t he Mem ori al Race'. Eac h team cons isted of fou r rid ers, to symbo lize the shared friendsh ip that Rightmire e njoyed wit h his fell ow rid er s. Riders w er e e ncou raged to join tog e ther in teams, to support eac h ot he r the way Rightmire su pported his friends. Rider s were sco red as a tea m, co m bi ni ng maineven t finishes, with the lowest-scoring team the winners . Fathers and sons, brothers a nd fri e nds signed up for t he eve nt. At t h e e n d o f the eveni ng, whe n the resul ts we re in, the first- place tea m had th ree firs t-p lace w in ners a nd o ne third-place finisher, for a combined sco re of six. Mernbe rsof the wi nning team inclu ded: Chad Dunning, with a first -place finish in the 60cC" class; his brother Cod y, with a first-pl ace finish in the SOcc class ; Case y Higgins, wh o won the 250cc Expert class; and Jason Doyle, wh o placed Ryan Blizzard easily won the 50cc race at the Jon Rightmire Memorial Race at Frozen Ocean Stadiumcross in Auburn, New York, He rece ived a trophy and a ki ss from Jon's sister Angel a after taking the checkered fla g. third in the SOcc class. In seco nd place, with a combined sco re of nine, was the team of Bobby Butler, w ith a firs t-p lace fi nis h in the 125cc Novice class; Ryan Blizzard, with a first-place finish in the 50cc class; Joh n Harkness, with a third-place finish in the 250cc Amateur class; and T.J.
