The fou rth round of the Dis trict Five Su m me r
Series was held at Steel City. There was a buzz
going through the crowd about the pr ese nce of
seve ral riders in the A classes . Need less to say ,
the crowd go t w ha t they wan ted .
Starting off the 12S A class with the ho les hot
was Shan e Lawson. Steve Onisko, James Evans ,
Travis Pas tra na an d Bill Walker pursued him.
O nisk o battled for th e lead for nearly half a lap '
before pulling ahea d o f La w s on thro ugh the
tab letop section. Onisko started to pu ll away an d
had a five-sec ond lead by the th ird lap . Pas trana
soon cut down this lead , working his way past
Evan s an d Lawson . This W ;JS no sma ll task, an d
it took Pastran a th ree laps to secu re seco nd place .

The crowd really came alive as Pastrana pu lled .
u p to within a bik e leng th of Onisko at th e sta rt
o f the last lap . Onisk o held his own an d continu ed to rid e strong, but go ing thro ug h th e tab letop sec tion, Pastra na mad e his mov e and even
pulled o ff a he el-clicker ove r the last tabletop,
bringing the crow d to its feet.
Th e seco nd moto started wi th Pastr an a round in g the cor ne r first, wi th Lawson, Onisko and
Mi chael Barto close behind . Pastra na pull ed an
early lead as Lawson and Onlsko put on a very
com pe titive rac e that last ed int o the third lap .
Onisk o outb raked Lawson to ta ke over seco nd .
Un fortunat ely, Lawson we nt down. Both Barto
and Jason Sisler were close enoug h to take advanta ge 'a nd th e y m o ved into third a n d fou rth,
behind Onisko. Sisler ma de a move on the insid e
of Barto, bumping up to third. Pastrana was still
up front and putting on a show for the crowd, as
he heel-click ed his way to th e finis h lin e with
nea rly a tu-second lead ove r Onisko and Sisler.
The ac tion was just as hot in the Schoolboy
class. In th e first m oto, Brand on Bradley edged
out M ic hae l Sigmund , Ja mes Singer, James
Bower a nd Matt Ritc hey . By th e third corner,
Sigmu nd was o u t in fro n t a nd pulling away
from the pack. Singe r was close behi nd Bradley,
w ho wa s in se cond . Broe H ep le r was o n the
move, rid ing an 80 in a class co mprised main ly
of 12Scc B riders an d hol di ng his own. On th e
firs t lap alone, Hepler had moved into fifth and
was pu tting serio u s p re ssu re on Bow er . The
third la p sh owed Sig mund wit h a IS -s econd
lead ov er Brad ley and Singer. Sing er sta lled by
th e finish lin e, letting Bower a nd Hepler by .
H epl er th en passed Bower to take ov er third.
Brad ley then had his ha nd s fu ll, as Hepler wa s
sca rcely a wheel be hind at th e chec kered flag .
In th e second moto, Brad McClellan wa s out
fro nt, with Hepler, Bow er , Brad ley and Sigmund
following . With a se ries of grea t m ov es', Sigmund took over the lead thro ugh the tabletop s.
Hepler mo ved u p into seco nd a nd was follow ing Sigmund closel y. On th e seco n d la p , Sigmund slid out in a corner and hand e the lead

to Hepler, w ho had a seven -sec ond lead Ove r
M cClellan and Bower. Sigmund pulled off with
mechanica l problems. At the chec ke red fla g,
Hepler had ' pulled 20 sec onds on secund-placed
McC lellan. Bradley passed Bower fo r thi rd , and
Singer came across in fifth .
