Cox fough t hard for the num ber-one spot and
was successful in the first four laps . [rent Swank
po wer ed his Yama ha from a fourth -place sta rt to
cha llenge Cox and se cond-placed Shannon
Mitchell, getti ng aro und both on the white-flag
la p for th e w in. Cox fi nis hed se cond, wi th
Mitchell third . In moto two, Mitchell used extra
grit and d etermina tion to take the lead . Behind
Mitchell, Cox and Swa nk ra n a bam-bu rner for
seco nd, with Cox protect ing his line from Swa nk
until the final lap, w hen Swa nk found an openin g an d moved up to second. The overa ll win
went to Swan k (]-2), second went to Mitchell (31I, and third went to Cox (2-3).

Lon Kopp overtook the Open Pro class to win a t
Spokane's secon d short-track race of the season.
After getting the boles hot in his heat and in his
main , he proceeded to walk away with the win.
In the 50cc class, Wyatt Maguire stole the
ho lesh ot and won both his heat a nd his main,
but placed second in the 8Occ-lOOcc class on his
KX60. Keith And erso n wo n the 8Occ-lOOcc class,
his heat an d the main .
Ra ndy Ray d om inated the Vint a ge class ,
even thoug h Mar k Scarpe lli took the holeshot. It
was a close race for all of the racers.
In ad diti on , a Das h For Cash was started by
a couple of the ride rs, and it prove to be more
d
of a lottery draw than any thing . Larry Mar sh
took the win, bu t who kno ws who won the most
cas h. All the rid ers really won was a chan ce to
dr aw first.

would ha ve been wrong. Rory Whitne y, on his

ma in. Giving Dean Harrison and Mark Lang fits,
Whitney proved that he could ride, leaving Paul
Phelps in the du st.
