After the race, the ilmiable Spee dway star from Reno presented his first-place ploque to one of his biggest fons. " I o\'crslid the groove sligh tly in turn one af ter the start," sa id Faria. "I thou ght I might . lose the lead righ t there, but nobod y got by me, and so here I am giving my win ning trophy to Terri. " Faria's win was made a little easier by Charlie Venegas, who go t himself excludl.od from the race when he lunged prematurely and broke the starting tapes. "I think Faria sucked me into the tapes there a little bit, but it's my ow n fau lt," said Vent.-gas. " I gotta do a better job of reading the starter' s timin g. I'll be bock to get them next week ." j imm y Sise more dr e w t h e po le fo r t he Scr.1tch main but did not get off the starting line in time to beat Faria to the first tum. Faria wen t into tum one and slid off the groove. Sisemore went wide into the loose dirt. Bobby Hed den started the nigh t's fina l race from lane two and began purs uing Fario on the low line but d rifted out wide, eventually falling to third place in the late go ing whe n Sisemore recovered and moved un de rnea th him on the blue groove. Once Faria righted his first-tu m bobble, he was all bu t gone to the checkered. Sisemo re main tained seco nd place, and th ird went to Bobby Hedd en. Venegas was crooited with a fourt h-place finis h. In the Ha ndica p main, former Junior ride r Ian Essary started a t the front of the pack on the 10-yard lin e. Station ed at the 20-y ar d stripe w ere Robert C u r ry and Ian Ferris . Former jun ior icon Ry an Fis he r a n d th e recently returned Tommy Hedden we re at the 30, and Cha rlie Venegas sa t alone back on the SO. Cu rry outgated Ferris to move into second and Fish er took over fourth ahead of Hedd en as the pack slid through the first set of turns. The only other change in the ru nning order came late in the race w hen Venegas took fifth place away from the tiring Hedden . None of the riders were ab le to move up on the fast, slick groove, a nd Essa ry piloted the freight train hom e to the checkered flog. Sta rting ou t in the very last position , Holland had 0 big cha llenge on his han ds . Within the firs t la p a na after seven passes, Ho lla nd fou nd himself in fifth place, but he wosn't about to stop ther e. Struggli ng to pass Honda rid er j .R. Arch utowski, Holland fell 10 eighth. Ta king only a bout half a lap to regain his position, Holland was once agai n co nfident tha t the re was mo re to co me . He stu mbled int o seco nd tw o laps lat er. It wos here that Holland had possibly me t his match. Kawasak i jockey Cra ig Truglio was filled with de termination and, like Hollan d , he was out for victory. Trug lio, who startl. d toward the mid dle of the pack, was also increasing in the standi ngs . On the second lap , he was ho lding o n to a sleady th ir d pl ace. By the third lap, Truglio had overcome his competition, and he held the first~place posi tion for the nex t thr ee la ps. Ho lding back Ho lland throug h the fourth an d fifth la ps was no t easy, and Tru glio was d efin itely still pu shin g for th e w in . Th is pu t Tru glio in seco nd place. He finis hed in thi rd after falling behind Kawasa ki rid er Scott Davis on the ninth lap . From that point it wa s hom e free for Hol lan d. Davis, who was in the top five since the fo urth lap, fi nis h ed in seco nd , w ith C r aig Tru glio right behind in third. Wa lker too k over the lead on la ps m 'O a nd three, with Brandon Pip kin moving into seco nd. On the fourth la p, an in jury caused Wa lke r to earn a DNF. Laske moved up from third to take over the lead on the whi te-flag lap , followed by Cody Ford in se cond. Pi pkin fi nished t h ird, foll o w ed by Timmy Ladd in fourth .
