Inderbitzin invincible at Stockton ST and IT By Mike Law LODI, CA,JUNE 26 Mod esto's Brandon lnderbitzin put on the ride of his young career as he scored a wire-to-wire victo- ry in a combined Vintage /Vet/Open Short Track race at the Stoc kto n Mot o rcycle Club-promo ted main event at the Lodi Cycle Bowl club grounds. Inderbitzin held off the ear ly challenges of fellow Open-class rider johnny Pittman and was never seriously challenged as the fina l la ps wound down. De spite the runawa y by Open riders Indcrbitz in and Pittma n, race fans we re trea ted to a real dogfight of a battle between Vintag e riders Tom Booth and David Morgan. Booth applied age, experience and d isplacement aboa rd his Big Valley Ford Yamaha 750, while Honda 350 rid er Morga n m us tered up yo u t h and exuberance. Morgan, however, showe d that the apple cart could occasionally become up set by besting Booth at the fin ish , behind Indcrbitzi n and Pittman in the final o rde r. "I tried to go as smooth as I .cou ld, " Inderbitzin said of his big-bike w in. Open C riders brought the Lod i crowd to its fee t in the O pen C sho rt-trac k main e ve nt as Tony Rose, jeremy Hannah and Gary King ran three abrea s t d o wn th e ba ck s t ra ig h t, with Masamiro Koshiro in hot pursuit. Rose held on the throttle the lon gest , and Hannah a nd King settled in to second and th ird, respectively, as the tra ck . N o sooner was Kos hi ro p ull ed Koshi ro off the track than he was back on the t rack, wit h th e pro blem appa rently solved . Wh ile Koshiro pla yed ca tch-up, King dosed in on Hannah and then made his pass to move into seco nd for good as he chased the Flying Rose. Adams agitates at Willow Springs Road Race By Eric Vincent ROSAMOND,CA ,JUNE 19-20 Curtis Adams rode to an easy victory in the Toyo ta Un limi ted Form ula One ra ce a t the s ixth rou nd of Willow Springs Motorcycle Club actio n at Willow Sp rings Inte rnational Raceway. Adams, wh .. has bee n plagued.by mech.1nical prob lems in the Formula One class this year, ran a flawless ra ce, le ad i ng fr om m id w a y th rough the .first lap unti l the checkered flag on his Dunlop-shod Suzuki GSXR-lloo. The fastest racer off the line was Bryce Gross, with Ada ms jus t behind him and Kevin Presiden~ rounding out the in itial top thr ee . Down the back stra igh t, Adams rocketed p.1.st Gross to take over the lead . On lap five of the 12-lap event, Lucio Nico lodi close d u p on Presi de nt a nd droppt.'d clos ing the ga p on Gross .
