Yet despite the con dition s, the racing was great! Thi s yea r the program was d ivid ed int o tw o major gro up ings, with Gro up On e consisting of the yo unge r rid ers on bikes ran gin g from 50cc up to the 12Sec Modifieds. Group Two was for the older riders on the larger bikes, and the one Quad class. The events were divided by track si ze, sta rting with the mile and q}l 32 then mov ing to the half mil e, th e TT, and finally the short tra ck. The Saturday sig n-up fea tured a race-bike exhibition and s e m in a rs by Chris Carr, Try ce Welch and Dave Despain. Ind y hon oree Bubba Shobert wa s pre sent , and durin g th e week many of racing' s best w ere spo tte d hanging around, including Joe Kopp, Chris Evans and Jimm y Filice. In a race p rogram of this size, wi th 76 featu res and all the atte ndant heat races and se mis, it was inevitab le that there wo uld be some injuri es to repo rt. The second feature was the SOcc Pee Wee class, and Ca ndy Hiley started last, went to the bottom to tak e the lead in turn two an d led to the checkered flag.. Trevor Buth and Keith Bou lis fin ished seco nd and third. N ex t u p was th e 6Scc DTX fea ture , Brock Schwarzenbacher led the pac k ou t onto the back stre tch.
