America.s weekly motorcycle newspaper Volume XXXVI Sharon Clayton, President Michael Klinger, Publisher LETTERS TO THE EDITOR We were honored to see 50 many of our heroes on the track, but we can't forget the heroes behind the scenes - all of those who tirelessly worked an 18hour day to make sure that the event went smoothly. They are far too many to list here, but they all deserve our respect, admiration, appreciation and thanks. I feel very I ucky to ha ve met and worked with so many of these wonderful people - and even luckier that I am part of such a caring and selfless dirt track community. The race was truly a collective effort and success was achieved by all of us. New Media Development Kory Klinger, Site Manag:, Mladin and the AMA Jeremy TV I just finished reading about the fine that the AMA has placed on Mat Mladin, and I want to express that I feel they aren't justified in their actions. As a former racer, I am familiar with the rules of road racing. I understand the AMA wants to put on a good show for the spectators, but when a ational race is red-flagged with seven laps to go, restarting it makes no sense. These are professional racers, not amateurs running in sprint races. The AMA needs to wake up and realize it needs to make the sport more marketa ble - they should n' t be scolding their star riders any time they disagree with the AMA. This kind of attention doesn't portray the sport as being very professional. Why doesn't the AMA worry more about the safety of some of the race tracks on which they run, and paying more prize money to their riders? John Jurkiewicz jjurkiewicz@home.com Imagine my excitement when J heard a commercial stating that Jeremy McGrath will be appearing on the "Late Late Show" with Craig Kilborn. I have waited forever to see someone from the sport of motocross/supercross on bigtime network television. Then Jeremy comes out and is making me proud to be a motoero5SeT. He is very professional and looks comfortable. Then my pride turns to horror when MC breaks out the moto sound effects. In actuality, it was very funny to see Jeremy not excel at something. A least he has the summer off to practice. Hopefully, we'll see him on Leno or Letterman next. Good job, Jeremy.
