Though he usually rides in the 250cc/Open
A class, Allen said he wanted to ride an RMl25
because he thought he could ride it faster. He
did. Allen won with more than a two-minute
lead on his A-class opponents, and he claimed
fastest lap time on the 4.4-mile course.
"I wanted to pull a big lead, because my 125
doesn't have a big tank and a knew) I would
have to gas," said Allen. "I was second off the
start, and I passed Chris (Hicks) right away.
Once out in front, I cruised for the finish."
Allen was followed by Team Green's Mike
McCrea, who suffered from arm pump because
he was too anxious.
"After everything settled down, my front
brake started to give me a little trouble," said
McCrea.
He managed to pull ahead of all his troubles
and pass 250cc/Open A leader Gary Hendricks
on the fourth lap. McCrea stayed in second overall from there on. He finished second in the
200cc A class as well.
Gary Hendricks followed McCrea, 17 sec·
onds h.1ck, and managed to stay out in front of
his 250cc/Open A opponents throughout the
entire race, finishing third overall. Jeremy
Ketchum drove into a fourth-place overall position with little trouble.
"I was in seventh place on the first lap:' said
Ketchum. "Gary (Hendricks) had over a minute
on me about t1,e fifth lap. The last three laps, I
reeled him in and got within 10 seconds."
Ketchum went down, but he still managed a
second in the 250cc/Open A class.
Four-Str ke winner Kevin Creekmur finished seventh overall. Creekmur was second in
the woods off the start and held 'the lead briefly
before being passed by the lead pack.
Rod Lyonhurst assured his win in the Vet
class by taking an extra lap, accepting 15th over"
all Senior winner Mark Hosbach said that he really enjoys a good ride on a new course. He proved
it by winning his class with a minute to spare.
