Wayne Moon (lCaw), Forsythe dices to Village Creek MX win By Deb Hershman FORT WORTH, TX, APR. 24 Village Creek Motocross continues to be a top draw among amnteur rilcers, as the facWty provides the perfect place for young riders to practice their ski Us. Many pro riders finished their amateur careers at the venue and continue to visit as they sharpen their skills. Most recently, the 80cc Open class was a showdown of young, up-and-coming racers. Yamaha-mounted Matt Forsythe diced his way to the overall win, though not without a lot of pressure from Bradley YOlmg and his Suzuki. The 80cc .Open event sizzled off the gate as Arlington Suzuki/LC5-backed Bradley Young got the holeshot and led the first two laps. Central Yamaha/Wiseco-sponsored Matt Forsythe shadowed Young as the two zipped around the track until at the end of lap one. Forsythe went for the lead on the inside comer just before the finish line and passed Young for an instant; then he fish-tailed and Young regained the lead. Forsythe grabbed a fistful of throttle and in lap three the two were bar to bar again, as Forsythe applied pressure and moved into the lead. Meanwhile, Bubby Richey was in hot pursuit of the leaders and on lap four, when Young ran into minor trouble, Richey took advantage and moved into second. jimmy Lay also moved into the picture and joined in the race as he crossed the finish line a whisper behind Young. At the finish, Forsythe held on for the win, followed by Richey, Young, Lay and Oint Gee, who rounded out the top five. Richey flew out of the gate to the early lead at the start of moto two, with Forsythe catching his draft. Richey led the first two Japs and refused to back down, even after being passed by Forsythe for the lead. Richey hounded Forsythe for the remamder of the moto. Finishing behind the two leaders were Young, Ln y and Blake Allen. Allen overcame' a bad cra.sh to move to the front of the pack. Meanwhile, Young and Lay continued their batHe and finished the race in a virtual tie, with the score· keepers giving Young the edge by the width of a tire. When mota scores were tallied, Forsythe was of course &.1wardcd the win with his 1-1 moto tally. Richey, Young, Lay and Gee ro\",ded out the top five, respectively. . eM Results ROUND 1 - MAY 9 GLEN HELEN RACEWAY PARK SAN BERNARDINO, CA ~ DUNLOP PRESENTEO BY RADIAL ROVER .£;,;'.G;,;N_r_r;;R.'f.~~ ROUND 2 - MAY 16 PRAIRIE CITY SVRA PARK SACRAMENTO, CA ROUND 3 - MAY 30 HIGH POINT RACEWAY MT.
