There was one guy standing there who pointed me up the hill for the start of lbop two, so ] turned around in the finisher's chute." He found himself heading at Abbott, while Davis took in the situation, shot a glance to his right and picked up the course - and the lead - as they' headed up the first little hill. "Brian and Ty and myself had a great battle leaving the pits," Abbott related. "Ty passed Brian and me - Brian and] kind of took a wrong turn - and from that point on, we just had a"great race. Brian went down; then it was Ty and me. We passed each other probab1y three times that last loop. [ had a really good time. I'd pass him and I'd go down, or he'd go down and stall it or something. It was great! ] was just thinking, 'This is so much fun.' It actually made it fun." Davis agreed. "It was intense," he said. "] was going the whole time, because everyone's keying off that lead guy. The lead guy's at a disadvantage because everyone behind him is just straightening out the turns." Abbott finally passed Davis for good late in the race - not that he was comfortable up front.
