Things were not much different for Luciano Quintanilla in the 2SOcc Novice class. He went wire to wire for the first-mota win and then returned to get around a fast-slarting Ole Henden by lap two of the second moto and pull away for a sweep of the class. Henden took a pair of second-place finishes, over Chisholm. Bryce Huffman was clearly the fastest 60cc (9-11) rider on the day, turning a pair of good starts into convincing wins. Preston Lundin and Douglas Carter argued over second place, with Lundin pulling a last-lap pass on Carter in the second moto to earn the runner-up troph-y_ Timmy Ritzler's 54 edged out Daniel Del Toro Lundin's 4-5 for fourth overall. It was not even close in the 60cc Beginner class, as Corey Bematz ran away with both molo wins on his 10(60, passing half the faster 9- to l1-year-old riders in the process. Ken Slater Jr. was a lonely second in both rounds, well ahead of Charlie McGowan, Clay DePerna and Josh Kahler. Results P/W YAM BEG: 1. Kylte Prince: (Yam); 2. Cole {)ePe-rna (Yam); 3. Quintanilla quickest at LACR MX By Greg Robertson PALMDALE, CA, MAR. 21 Luciano Quintanilla had a stellar day at Los Angeles County Raceway, winning four straight motos to cla.im overall wins in both the 125cc and 250cc Novice classes during California Racing Oub's Slfllday motocross. Quintanilla started off his day with the first 125cc Novice moto holeshot, over Oiff Jennings and Neil Chisholm. By lap three, Quintanilla had a commanding lead and was wilJing to let everyone else fight over second place. Andres Quintanilla charged his way up from a ne~r-Iast place start to finish in second, ahead of Jennings and Shaun Trabert. Luciano Quintanilla put his YZI25 into the top spot on the opening lap of the second moto and continued on uncontested for the win. Andres Quintanilla got a much better start this time out but ended up with the same result - a second-place finish - and second overall. Trabert came across in third a safe distance ahead of Steve Harbison to lock up third overall with a 4-3 day. 60 (9-11): I. Bryce Huffman (Kaw); 2. Preston Lundin (Kaw); 3. Douglas Carter n: I.
