By Bob Alloy
PERRI5,CA,MAR 7
Riverside OTMX members were the guests of
the Over The Hill Gang at Perris Raceway, and
26 racers showed up to participate and enjoy a
great day at the races.
Master A-class 'racer Ron Turner displayed
his fantastic racing skills as he lTl'l,SterfulJy flew
around the track and won both motos. Carl
Gazafy starled out with the I""d in the Master B
class and kept the power up to finish first W.G.
Wilson came in with second but gave Gazafy a
real battle for fu-st place.
The second mota was nearly a carbon copy
of the first, with Gazafy and Wilson at it again,
ending with another Gazafy first
Expert jim McConnell started the action by
putting his Kawasaki into the lead. Then Chris
Cumbo passed him. Cumbo continued to hold
his lead for three more laps and was then overtaken by David Wallace. Wallace then carried
his lead to the last lap, at which time Ray Guilbeau- had his way and moved past Wallace for
the win.
In the second moto, Wallace took the
holeshot and kept his lead for five laps. john
Marshall was glued to Wallace's rear fender and
made a pass to take the first place. Rob Ruder
passed several riders to place second.
Amateur-class rider Dennis Rosenberg
maneuvered his YZ400 into the lead in moto
on.e, keeping the point until Frank Derby
changed the order. Derby then led all the way to
the finish, followed by Rosellbe.rg and Barry
Hale, who finished third.
The second moto went the same as the first,
with Derby once again taking first, Rosenberg
second, o.n.d Hale third.
Novice racer Barry Simun bnd • p"rfect day
of racing, getting holeshots and wins in both his
motos. Asher Larnkjaer took second in moto
one, and Bob Alloy claimed second in moto two.
