The lO-mile course was littered willi rocks, and dry conditions made for some dust, but a strong wind made visibility better. On lap one, Butler had a smaU mishap that handed the lead over to Rick Hillhouse, who , completed the first lap in the lead. Soon after, however, Butler went back around Hillhouse to ret.:lke the lead. HiUhouse went on to finish second, and Loyd Morgan finished. third. Rounding out the top five were Dan Burch and Dennis Willmon, Taking the lion's share of the Pro purse money once again was Team Creen's Clay Hoenshell, who took over the lead and the victory in the Pro class after runiling second to Peter Rettke for twoJaps. But it was not to be for the young racer, as A1.1ders lost control of his KIM on a high-speed straight and failed to keep' his bike on two wheels. Ishmael regained the lead and l\eld on to finish first, while Anders dropped back to finish fifth. Christian Vowell rode the whole race in third and then moved up one position on lap five to finish second. Finishing in the same minute as Ishmael and Vowell was third-place fu1isher Joshua Hess.
