RIVERSIDE, CA, FEB. 14
Erielk Aquilar ascended the Expert 80ee podium
on St. Valentine's Day at Adams Kart Traelk.

and Craig Crawford in the first heat. Solis went
under Aquilar in turn one on lap two and began
a procession of wheelies down the back and
front straights.
Meanwhile, Aaron Hammel took over third

lap seven, Solis' connecting rod decided to elisconnect, ending his day and willing the order to
Aquilar and Crawford. Hammel came baelk in
the second heat to ta.ke second, giving him a
result of third overall.
The Expert GP 50cc class provided the spectators with some of the best racing of the day.
Greg Groce, Ben Morse and Jason Takamoto
rode as though completely glued to each other,
jostling and swapping places. Groce won the
first round on his Yamaha YSR, while Honda
NS50R-mounted Ben Morse clicked off quielk
and consistent lap times to win the second
round. Combined results would find the order
Groce, Morse and Takamoto. Ryoichi Takao dominated both rounds of the
Expert Stock class. Tommy Kosaka was hot on
his heels but Takao rode as smooth as glass,
braked very late and kept the gas on relentlessly.
Steve Mayes launched himself into third overall
with brilliant starts and consistent riding. Solis
managed to squeak by Mayes but low-sided in
an attempt to match Kosa'ka's blistering pace.
Takao casuaJly expressed his boredom at the
lack of any serious threat to his wins.
"Nobody's here," he simply stated in reference to the competition.

Chad Clark topped the Open C class during the
filial round of the DRTA winter ice racing series,
held on Elk Lake and hosted 'by the Ridgehood
.Bay Resort.
The fun started during the Open C heat race,
in which CR500-mounted Scott Williams performed a last-lap pass to teal the win from
Doug Deering. Gark had the best seat in the
house, finishing a close third. In the main event,
Clark turned the tables by pulling the holeshot
and leading the first lap, but he was soon dispatched by Deering on lap two. The next time
the trio of Deering. Williams and Gark entered
tum three, €lark rebounded with an outside
pass that earned him the eventual win.
"After the heats, we changed the gearing so I
could downshift into third coming into the corners," explained Clark. "I got the holeshot, but I
went wide in the first turn. Deering and the
other guy on the Honda (Williams) got by.
When we later went into turn three, I got so
close to the outside of Doug (Dt.'Cring), I could
see his fender right next to me, and T think he
thought I was going to blow the corner, so he
i\rVent back. As soon as I hit third gear, I just
dropped right in and it worked perfect."
