who had problems in the first moto, ran
in Webster's shadow throughout moto
two, but he could not make a pass stick.
Behind Webster in the overall tally were
Buyas, Lacey, Pete Sannan and Wirkus.
Ty Lacey had little trouble winning
the 12Sec Intermediate class. Lacey, who
breezed to a win in the first moto,
stormed back to lead moto two. KTMmounted Rory Sullivan ran second to
Lacey at the finish. Sullivan's eighthplace first-moto finish grounded his
chances of a podium spot. Lacey went II to. lead Yamaha rider Ryan Sweet (3-3),
Matt Williams (4-4) and Sullivan (8-2).
Lacey came right back to beat Suzuki
rider Jon Kauffman in the Before The
Hill shootout. Kauffman took second by
way of his 1-2 placings, followed by
brothers Devin and Sean Connaghan,
and Josh Fortier.
Kauffman turned it around to win
both motos of the 250cc Intermediate
class. Sean Connaghan finished second
overall with his 2-3 placings, edging
Ryan Sweet, Devin Connaghan, Gary
Terlecki and Matt Williams.
Many of the day's classes were filled to
overflowing, thus mandating several
qualifiers to trim the field to 18 for a main
event. Such was the case in the Before The
Hill Junior class. Will Wallace led the
early and later stages of the eight-lap final
before his win would come to pass.
Wallace was the recipient of a bit of
luck when Keith Ford, who had taken
the lead from both Wallace and Jason
Lytle, crashed. Wallace nabbed the lead
back with a lap to spare. Ford quickly
remounted to salvage second, ahead of
Lytle, Aaron Tunnell, Matt Crawford
and Tim Ricketts.
