CMC Pacnic Northwest Golden State Nationals Round 2 Leach, Lenaburg let loose By Clay Light SALEM, OR, FEB. 14 amaha-mounted Ryan Leach and . Kawasaki rider Dustin Lenaburg were the winners of the 250cc and 125cc Pro classes at the second round of the CMC Pacific Northwest Golden State Nationals, held inside the Forster Exposition Arena at the Oregon State Fairgrounds, Leach ran away with both 250cc Pro motos, although he did get some serious challenges from teammate Tony Graves. Graves did not fare as well in moto two as he ctid in the first contest, dropping him to third in the overall standings. Terry Harnness put in two solid motos to claim second ahead of Graves. Hamness also won the Over 25 class.. Lenaburg's 125cc-Pro-class win came by virtue of his hard, aggressive riding style, aided by a bit of misfortune on the part of Graves. Graves jumped the gate prematurely in moto two, which made Lenaburg's win that much easier. Justin Homan claimed third, pehind secondplaced Graves. There were several other impressive performances on the day, led by double class winners Justin Keeney, who won the 60cc Senior and BOcc (7-11) divisions, and Ty Lacey, who aced the 125cc and Before The Hill Intermediate classes. Kenny Webster won both the 80cc (1213) and Supermini divisions as well. Keeney fell one moto short of a hat trick, as he crashed while challenging Webster for the lead in the second Supermini moto after going a perfect five for five in his motos beforehand. Keeney got out in front of the combined 60cc Senior IJunior classes from the get-go. The KX jockey continued to amaze the specta tors in both of the motos, in which he earned his first overall win via 1-1 placings. Ajay Olinger an.d Ryan Villoputo, also aboard Kawasakis, finished second and third to Keeney, edging top Junior-class riders Sean Bergllmd and Tyler Villoputo. Keeney also won the 80cc combined age group class ahead of Todd Nelson, Adam Metzler, Ryan Villoputo and the rest of the field in both motos. Metzler, who trailed Keeney to the finish in moto one, had to come through traffic in the second moto before he could catch a glimpse of Keeney late in the moto. Metzler got around Nelson to move into second, bu t time ran out for Metzler, and Keeney's second win came as easily as his first. Metzler, Nelson and Villoputo rounded out the top four. Webster had reason to rejoice after he earned the overall win in the Supermini class. While Keeney did soar to a firstmoto win in the class, his second mota was marred by a bad crash - which aided Webster's cause, as he pulled out a 'big win ahead of Rose, Keeney, Metzler and Alex Wirkus. Webster's two-class decimation was finalized after he totally demolished the competition in the 80cc (12-13) class. Webster beat Cody Buyas in the first moto and then did the same in moto two, taking a start-to-finish win.
