It's bad enough when nonmotorcyclists blindly accept any ruling from a governing body (e.g., the Gobert suspension by the AMA), but when a motorcyclist - which I assume you are, Mr. Glenn - does it, or even applauds it, it's a travesty. Did it affect Gobert's racing? Well, it didn't seem to at Phoenix, Road America or Road Atlanta - wins which you try to minimize as "winning some races" while also using epithets like "resident pothead." Anthony Gobert is one of the fastest, most colorful personaliti.es in motorcycle road racing in this decade and, as you may have gathered from this letter, one of my favorites. Finally, sinc.e you're handing out advice, Mr. Glenn, I'll give you some: Instead of dispensing unsolicited adVice to the Vance & Hines team and shooting off your mouth in the pages of Cycle News, why don't you start your own "Just Say No" program in Hamilton? You could hand out pampWets on the dangers of marijuana use or something. In the meantime, leave the riding and racing to real riders, like Gobert, as he power-slides his way to an AMA Championship in 1999.
