Suzuld-mounted Ryan Metzler had an incredible weekend during CMC-sanctioned arenacross racing inside the confines of the Expo ilion Arena at the Oregon State Fairgrounds. On
each of the two consecutive nights of racing,
Metzler won two classes in his three·c1ass
quest.
Friday night, Metzler won the 125cc and
250cc junior classes, and then added wins in the
250cc and Before The Hill junior classes to join
the other two-class winners - Sean Bergland,
juslin Keeney, Tyson Lacey aJ1d jon Kauffman.
Honda-mounted Tim Ricketts used a 2-1
tally to top justin jensen. who finished second
via 3-2 placings in the 125cc Beginner class. Saturday night. however, Suzuki rider Brody Baxter took top honors in the class with a ] -1 sweep
ahead of Ricketts' 3-2 placings.
Metzler had tough competition in the l2Sec
junior class from fellow RM pilot Keith Kadell.
Kadell grabbed the holeshot in the first moto on
Saturday night and took advantage of a POOT
start by Metzler to forge ahead of the field, snag-
ging the win by a wheel ahead of Metzler and
KTM-mounted Will Wallace.
Metzler improved upon his firsl-moto start
by rwming up front in the second contest to lead
Kadell and the rest of the field. Kadell reversed
the order and handed Metzler his only loss of
the night. Metzler netted second, ahead of
Auslin GetteL Travis Rigert and Wallace.
Metzler and Kadell met again, this time in
the Before The Hill junior class, but Metzler
used his 250cc Suzuki to thwart Kadell·s challenges in both motos. The win m..1rked Metzler's
second win after he had handily won both 250cc
Junior motos earlier, ahead of Kawasaki rider
Tye Crandall.
Another rider on a roll was Justil'\ Keeney.
Keeney clobbered the competition in the 60cc
Senior class, beating out fellow KX rider Ajay
Olinger for his first win. Keeney came soaring
right back to lead Adam Metzler and the rest of
the field in the BOcc combuled-age-group classes.
To finalize Keeney's sensational weekend of rac·
ing, he put his Honda out in front of the Supermini field to beat out his rival Tate Major.
