Frank fastest at GFI Motocross By Greg Robertson PERRIS, CA, DEC. 12 YZl25-mounted Chad Frank was nothing short of spectacular as he d.ominated the 125cc Novice class at round four of GFl Racing's 10 Year Anniversary Super Saturday Series, held at Per- ris Ra"ceway. Frank's reign started as soon as the gate dropped in the first moto, as he snaked the holeshot ahead of Kenny Maddox and Scott Coleman. Jed Herring gated midpack, but by lap three he had worked his way up to pass Maddox for the runner-up position. Herring was the only other 125cc ovice who was able to keep Frank in sight, as the duo separated themselves from the field. In the end, it was the Simi Valley Cycles/The Racers I3dge/Chuy's Radng-sponsored Frank· with the victory over Herring. Maddox earned third, a safe distance ahead of Chad Rozanek and Colem,m. The second-moto start was a repeat of the first, with Frank quickest out of the gate, followed by Maddox, Patrick Terry and Rozanek. While Frank reeled off one uncontested lap after another, a good battle for second place raged. on between Maddox and Rozanek. Herring proved 0' N ~ ... c '" ... .., 34 to be one of the fastest riders on the track, as he came from a near-Iast·place start to pass Rozanek for second place on lap seven. Frank's Lead was insurmountable, even for Herring, as he cruised across the finish for a sweep of the class. Herring took home the second-place trophy with a well-deserved 2-2 score. Rozanek went 4-3 to beat out the 3-4 of Maddox. Jay Clark went wire to wire for the 250cc Beginner first-mota win, with Zac Marquez keeping him honest. Marquez returned to win the' second moto with a huge lead while Clark recorded a DNF. Alex Ochoa worked up through the pack to go 4-2 for second overall behind Marquez. Anthony Bruscella rode a pair of Yamahas to wins i.n the BOcc Open/Expert and Supermini classes. Bruscella split moto wins with Mickey Griffin in lI,e Expert ranks, then returned to top Griffin both times out in the Supermini wars.
