CMC Salem Arenacross Pro Challenge, Round 6 Brad Hagseth sa iled to 1-1 moto fini shes in the 125cc Pro cl ass and took th ird in the Pro Challenge at the CMC Salem Aren across In Oregon. Sha~n Gilbe rt nai led the ru nn er-up spot in the first rnoto, He finished ahead of Ch ad Hu ston, and Tr a vis Rigert. Round ing ou t the field was Aaron Tun nell, Brya n Bu ndy, Curtis Smith and Scott Denham. Tunnell turned it ar ound for a runner-up finish in moto two . Den ham netted a th ird ah ead of Rigert, wh o rode consiste ntly, taking a fourth and third overall. Hu ston crossed the line in fifth, followed by Bund y, Smit h and Gilber t. The second d ivision of I25cc Juni ors fea tu red Da vid Sibl ey, who led every lap of both mot os but was cha llenged the whole wa y. In mo to one, Aus tin Ge tte l fended off Ja so n Lytle and Ste ve Mill er for thr ee laps. Before the mot o wa s ove r, Gettel go t sla mme d ou t of cont ention by an aggressive Miller, wh o went on to finish seco nd . Lytle, meanwhile, finish ed third ahead of Gettel , Cam eron Tr ask , Bob Ki vis to, Jonah Mill er, and Andy Kalz, In mo to tw o, it was again Sibley in the leadall the way to the finish. Miller, however, stayed close beh ind Sibley but could not mak e a pa ss. Lytle finished with ano ther third as Kivis to bettered hi s fir s t-m oto pl a cin g by fin ish in g fourth. NOV. 27 aso n McCorm ick piloted his Planet Honda / FMF-backed CR250 to the 250cc Pro-cl as s a nd 40- la p Pro Challenge wins at the sixth rou nd of the CMC Ar en a cr oss Se r ies h eld at th e Salem (Orego n) Fair grounds. The Vancouve r, Washin gton, reside nt took hom e the lion's sha re of the purse, including $3000 for the Pro Cha llenge win. Ryan Terlecki sep arated McCormick and Hagseth in the Pro Cha llenge with the runner-up positi on. Terlecki was the 00 0\ only rid er on the track not to get lapped 0\ ...... by McCormick in the 40-lap feature and two s taig htaways -.D . finished only Terlecki also led thbehind e first ...... McCormick. 250cc Pro m oto , un til McC ormick l-< Q) stu ffed his CR by Terlecki and ma de a run for the finish . In the second 250cc Pro moto, TerlecQ) u ki on ce aga in had the stellar sta rt, but Q) McCo rmick seized the lead befo re th e race was a lap old. McCormick went on to win, and his 1-1 moto tally gave him the overall win . Terlecki earned second "E a 26 with his good starts, finishing ahead of Jason Matt hews. In th e Ama te u r p ro g ram , M ich ae l Scheel grabbed the early lead in the first I2 5cc Int erm ed iat e mot o, w it h Tyson Lacey in hot pursu it. The lead du o was followed by Tracy John son, Tim Meyer, and Ray Conkey. John son made a bonzai pass on lap two around both Lacey and Scheel and held the point for the next five laps. Scheel, however, reeled him back in, passing Johnson in a long' rhythm section on lap six. Scheel's time out front was cut short when he took a soil sample. He did not get started aga in un til the entire 14rider field flew by him. With Scheel out of the picture, Johnso n moved in to th e lead w ith Lacey right on his tale. Lacey tar geted in on th e fir st -pla ce s po t a nd blas ted p as t •Johnson just as he suffered a crash of his own . Johnson's spill occurred jus t before th e white flag came ou t, giving Lacey enough breathing room to complete the moto u nchallen ged . At the checkers, it w as La ce y in fro n t, fo llowed by Jeff Hinzman , who had blitzed through the pa ck after a 10th-place start. Thi rd -place finisher wa s Meyer, w ith Matt Williams, and Conkey rounding out the top five. M ot o tw o w as all Lace y ' s . He le d from the drop of the gate to the checkered flag . Joh nso n recovered from hi s moto-one get-off and nailed the runnerup p osition, with Williams g ra bb ing third . Hinzm an finished fourth in mo to two, bu t his first-mo te finish earned him the ru nner-up p od ium spo t for the da y just ahead of William s. Con key ro d e con sisten tly, pl acing fifth in both motos, earn ing fourth overall on th e day. Jer em y Kin zer fin ished fifth overall via 7-6 moto finishes. Johnson held on and finished in sixth desp ite his first-mo te mishap . . The 250cc Junior class wa s a Jessy Will iam s run aw a y. Joey Ebe n st ei ne r, however, pulled both holeshots on the night , ma kin g Williams ea rn the lead sp o t. Willi ams ca rved a ro u n d Eben steiner on lap two of the first moto and headed off untouched for the win. In m o to tw o , Eb e ns tei ner held 'W ill ia m s a t b a y for two laps be fore Willia m s t u rned up th e wi ck and motored to a perfect 1-1 tally. Ebens teiner took second both times out. . . Da vid Sibley took hi s Kaw asaki to third in moto one, but not befor e h and Richard Tunnell exch an ged th e fina l podium position three times in six lap s. The du o batt led aga in in moto two, with Tunnell getting the nod . N a th a n M a th ew s edged o u t t h e advances by Derek Wak kure to net fifth ove rall. The I25ccJunior class was divided into two di visions, and it was apparent that d ivision one had the hottest rider.
