Larsen ou tgated the field and. went ou t on top, w ith O xley coming across from the outside to run his favorite low line. Ermo lenko was looking for any kind of opening as he was running third, an d it cos t him on the wh ite-flag lap when he we n t d ow n in one. It was DiFran cesco an d Jon es who go t by for the third and fourth spots; Larse n a nd Ox ley would move to the sem is. Th e final heat had Bast in one and Steve Fu rman in tw o. Bobby "Boogaloo" Schwartz loaded into three, wi th Jason Chism in four and Charlie "The Tuna" Cooley in five. It was the "Master of the Gate," Schwartz, who got the best start, but Bast figu red out how to ge t around him, and he took the lead at the end of o ne a n d wen t o n to ta ke th e wi n . Sch wartz wo uld s till tr ansfer u p th e p ro gram with h is seco nd a nd Cooley, Furma n and Chism would fight anothe r day. Schwartz drew th e pol e in the firs t Scr atch se m i, with O xley in tw o a nd Fari a in thr ee. Venegas was on the outside, in fou r . Ag ain th e ga te w en t to Schwartz, but that just mad e Faria turn it up a n otch high er, and it was "Flyin'" Mike w ho went wire to wire. Venegas, who is reall y on track for th e N a tional , moved himself into the second spo t for a d irect transfer to the mai n , a lo n g w it h Faria and th e fina l mat ch-up. Schwartz a nd Oxley w ould have one more chance in the last-ehance qu alifier. The seco nd Scratch sem i sa w th e draw fo r the pol e go to Larsen, with . Chad Felicia in two and Bast in three. Ca stro had drawn fiv e. Larsen got another inc re dib le gate and th e ra ce bel on ged to him. The battle for second was between Feli cio and Bast, and it was Bast who held off the ch allenge and picked up second. Larsen and Bast were in the ma in and Felicio and Cas tro would have one more sho t in the LCQ . There were fou r riders in the LCQ, and only the winner would move on. Oxley drew the pole, with Felicio in two and Schwartz in three. Castro would again be on the outside, in four. The veteran, Schwartz, flat outgated the field, and it was ov er as quickly as it had begun. The final spot in the Scratch main would be filled by a still-competing Legend, Schwartz. Oxley did finish second, with Felicio and Castro rounding out the field . The Scratch main event saw the luck of the draw put Schwartz on the pole, with Larsen in two and Faria in three. Bast and Venegas were in four and five. This race can only be described a s "bizarre." Venegas was not ready when the gate came up and he didn't get off the line. Schwartz hesitated, th inking the red flag would come ou t; it didn't, and he was off late . Venegas was besid e himself and, frankly, the riders looked somewhat confused on tne first lap until they realized the race was in full swing. Larsen had cu t another brilliant ga te and was out front , and he lo o ked to ioe Jason Wade (28) takes the lead on lap one in the 125cc B c lass in McArthur, Ohio . Results 50 (4-tl) ; 1.
