Ermo lenko was looking for any kind of

fourth spots; Larse n a nd Ox ley would
move to the sem is.
Th e final heat had Bast in one and
Steve Fu rman in tw o. Bobby "Boogaloo"
Schwartz loaded into three, wi th Jason

Ca stro had drawn fiv e. Larsen got
another inc re dib le gate and th e ra ce

was between Feli cio and Bast, and it
was Bast who held off the ch allenge
and picked up second. Larsen and Bast
were in the ma in and Felicio and Cas tro would have one more sho t in the
LCQ .
There were fou r riders in the LCQ,
and only the winner would move on.
Oxley drew the pole, with Felicio in two
and Schwartz in three. Castro would
again be on the outside, in four. The veteran, Schwartz, flat outgated the field,
and it was ov er as quickly as it had
begun. The final spot in the Scratch

second, with Felicio and Castro rounding out the field .
The Scratch main event saw the luck
of the draw put Schwartz on the pole,
with Larsen in two and Faria in three.
Bast and Venegas were in four and five.
This race can only be described a s
"bizarre." Venegas was not ready when
the gate came up and he didn't get off
the line. Schwartz hesitated, th inking
the red flag would come ou t; it didn't,
and he was off late . Venegas was besid e
himself and, frankly, the riders looked
somewhat confused on tne first lap until
they realized the race was in full swing.
Larsen had cu t another brilliant ga te
