Things heated up between Sand efer and Kelly righ t from the drop nf the gate in the first moto when Sa ndefer gr abbed the holeshot bu t wa s quickly reeled in by Kell y. Kelly was show ing Sandefer her front fend er in the comers as the two fron t-ru nners started. to distance themselves from Kyle Robertson, who held down third . At the midway point, Kelly mad e a mistake and went down in the sand. She was quickly up and under wa y, still ah ead of Robertson but too lar back to catch Sa nd efer, who would see the checkers fir st with a co mfortable lead. Kell y pulled clear of Robert son during the second half of t he moto to fini sh a lonely second. Darin Chish olm held off Bre nnan McG innis a n d Mitchell Alsob rook fo r a hard -fou ght fourthpla ce finish . Kelly put her BH Racing/Nationwide Cyclebacked YZSO at the front of the pack off the second -moto sta rt .to lea d Sa ndefer and C hisholm . Within a lap, Sande fer and Kelly were swa pping lines through the big-benned tums, each tryin g to gel the ad vanta ge on the ot her . For the next three la ps th ey ba ttl ed for th e lea d, with th e CRBOmounted Sandefe r finally making a pass stick. Sa ndefer cou ld n't shake Kell y once he ha d the lead , and Kelly wasn' t going to give up, as she relen tlessl y dogged hi m all the way to the fin is h.
