Johnson, w ho w as slowed by a lapped rid er , was th en pa ssed by Sellard s in a set of huge triple jumps. Johnson recovered during the nex t lap a nd mad e a grea t pass in the rocker section . The nex t lap brought out the white flag. and Johnson held off Sella rds for the w in. The 125cc Dash For Cash was a replay of the 125cc hea t race, with Pocorobba get ting ou t front ea rly and hold ing on to ta ke the win in the sixlap ra ce. Th e 250cc he a t had Poco robba o ut fro n t ag ain. Sellards battled past Carpenter for secon d pla ce. Ty w all ace a nd Barry Ca rsten we re p i ck~ ing up the pace during the hea t race, foresh ad owing a potentia l for w ide-open race actio n in the main. The 250cc mai n begu n w ith Ca rlo Coe n gra bbing th e hol es ho t, but with Sella rds d o gg in g him hard on lap o ne. By lop tw o, Sella rds hod mo ved int o the lead , followed by Oe hlho f, Carpenter and Davey Yeza k. Ca rpe nter picked up the pace to leap into second p lace a nd set the stage for his run a t win ning the $1000 first-p lace mon ey. For a wh ile it loo ked like the young local pro was making believers of the h uge crowd, melting Sellards' lead from 3.5 se o nds to 1.5 c seco nds. By mldm cc it had become evident that th e young rider could not hold the pace. During the la st two la ps, Cars te n closed in a m id lapped traffic to ma ke d pass on the race- worn Carpenter. Ty Wallace rod e hard to earn a fou rth-p lace finis h. Sellards gathered in his $1600 s ha re of the $6000 p urse with the win. In his postrace intervie w , Brock said it was worth the long trip from Ohio to make new friends an d fans in New York Sta te. In other race action, Bob Kiniry co ntin ued his great run in the 80cc class wi th a win. Young M ike Case had a great ra ce, wi nn ing his hea t an d ma in races in the 50cc class .
