Alan Regi er. Dennis Me lcher s n a tche d the
ho les ho t from th e field a nd led the first la p.
Regier was in second, ahead of Mike Lalley and
Chuck Bcvt ng . Regier muscled hi s Kawasaki
past Melch er and too k the lea d before the seco nd lop co uld be co mplete d . Melcher would
hold his position as Lalley, Beving and Charlie
Langland took shots at hi m. Regie r pu lled a way
fro m the four- rider battle for second a nd co unted down the laps. Melch er and Lalley started to
pu t a littl e di s tance betwee n them sel ves and
Bevin g. Regier took the chec kered flag. and Lalley pulled by Melcher on the last lap to tak e second . Bevi ng took fourt h, and Lan gland held off
a hard-eharging Studer for fifth.
