un ab le to hold off the har d-char ging Pes tana .
Th e "Ca liforn ia Cruiser " passed Mino r in the
r hyt hm sec tio n o n lap tw o. As the chec kere d
flag fell , it was Pestana with a no ther mot u w in.
Rou nd ing o u t the to p five were Whi te , Roth ,
Min or and Les Whit e (no relation to Haw k).
As ni g ht fell , so d id the ga te o f the 125cc
ma in eve nt. In a replay of mo to o ne , Pest ana
grabbed the holeshot. With Pes tana ru n n ing
.a wa y, he had plen ty of tim e to po ll off a few
tr icks for the crowd . Pestana w hipped his bike
sideways o ver the spectato r jump, bringin g the
crowd to their feet. This wi n ga ve him his moto
wi n of th e night.
The 250cc main w oo ld be Haw k Wh ite's la st
chance to beat his bud d y ' Pes tan a . However, as
the race s tarted , Pest an a was off to an ea rly lead ,
follo wed by Whi te, Ro th and M inor. After lap
three, Wh ite passed Pestan a over the triple and
too k over the lead .
In the w hoop section , Ro th attem pted to pass
Pestana but los t controfsend in g his bike and his
body to the d irt. Ro th su ffered a bro ken leg.
Mean w hile, White held on for the mot o victo ry an d the o vera ll.
