Lacy lights up Viewfinders Motocross By Roc ky Has h SAN B ERNARDINO, CA, AUG. 9 A hot Southern California day challenged most rid ers but not Gary I...'C)', who took hom e vi ctoTies in bot h the 250cc a nd Vet junior classes at the View find er s Motorcycle Club Motocross, held a t Glen Helen Racewav Park. Th e first mote of 250~c Junior action saw Lacy blast his Honda into the lead from the start. Brett Dau gh erty' s Suzu ki he ld seco nd , w hile Kawasa ki ride r Bruce Hend el settled into third . Lacy went uncon tested for the moto wi n: w hile, throu ghout the mot o, hea vy action transpired between Dau gherty an d Hend el for the seco nd place positi on . Although Hendel applied const ant pressure, he was unabl e to find a w a y aro u nd Dau ghert y for the second spo t. At the finish, Hend el ended up in third . d At the start of moto two, Lacy aga in wo rke hi s ma gic . Thi s tim e a ro und , Daughert y was able to kee p him in sight for mos t of the mot o. At one poin t, abou t halfway throu gh the contest, he was able to d ose the ga p within a few bike lengths of Lacy an d the lead. In the end , L.1 CY ca me out on top as Daugherty finished second an d agai n Hendel rode in for third . In the Ve t Junior class, Lacy , a p pa re n tly un affected by the heat, con tinu ed to do minate. He stole the holeshots in both motos an d we nt on to win each con test convincing ly. His closes t co m p e tit io n ca me fro m Honda ri der Milton Mize, who rod e seco nd overa ll with 3-2 scores. Lenny Holden followed as he earne d the third posi tion by postin g 2-3 finishes.
