WA, JULY3 Eli Price, rid ing a Woo d Ro ta x, 'mad e a st atement at the Castl e Rock Cl ub gr ounds' AMA District 27 IT with his win in the Expert main event his second of the young IT seaso n in the first race of a two-event weekend. He sent ou t seri ous signa ls that he's not ready to give . J,P. Simonsen the class crown just yet. Whi le current GNC standout Dan Stanle y held th e honor of "King o( Cast le Rock " (o r years, this season has come down to a two-rider d omination between Price and Simo nse n (the latter was not present on this particular nigh t). Tonight, Price silenced the critics by motoring to a win in the ZO-lap Expe rt main event aboard the Ron and Carol Kell/ MVP-backed Rotax, picking u p the vict ory ove r hard-rid in g Eric Rickma n and David Anderson. Rotax-moun ted Tony ,Fox ou trod e the compet ition in the l Z-rider , lZ-lap 600cc Pro-Sport ma in eve nt to post his first win of the season in the cla ss. Bob Mo ra n, w ho sta r ted off th e evening wi th a row- thr ee grid afte r leaving the line pre maturely at the start, charg ed through traffic at a stellar pilce to catch up with the lead pack. How ever , wh ile all of the battling was taking place , Fox quietly crept awa y with a tidy lead - one he wo uld n't relinqu ish. Behind Fox was a war that includ ed George Pri ndiv ilJe, Mo ra n,' Fra nk M ke r and Matt Schwei tze r, a lt ho ugh bot h Schweitzer and Prindiville wo uld fall backwar d thr ou gh the ranks . Prind iville, who ended up fourth, had a good view of the Marker/Moran swapfes t - a ba ttle that went to Marker, who mad e the event the hard way: by winning the semifinal Brenton Sch n itzer, son o f AMA National Expert Del Schnitzer, has going fast in his blood . To night was much the same as it has been the entire seaso n for Schnitze r, as he posted his lates t win. Oregon's Ch ris Ce lorte, thou gh , kep t Schnitzer honest for several laps, finish ing second ahead of Tyler Anderson. Mar k Studeba ker Jr. started 0(( a successful weekend for his family by picking up a pair of 80cc wi ns. Ridi ng a CR-based machi ne: Studebaker netted 80cc Beginner and 80ec A main wins, beating Suzuki rider Cory Simpso n in the more-exper-i enced class - the " A" main.
