Ian Simpson (Hon) won theSenior TT
an the Isle of Man on Friday, June 12,
averaging 119.79 mph to beat Bob Jackson (Kaw) by 3.7 seconds. Third place
went to James Courtney (Hon). Earlier
in the day, Jim Moodie (Hon) gave
Honda its 100th TT victory when he
won the Production TT on a CBR900RR.
Moodie averaged 119.19 mph to top
Nigel Davies (Kaw) and Michael Rutter
(Hon). The Singles TT, held on June 10,
was won by Dave Morris (BMW) over
Moodie, and the Ultra-Lightweight TT,
also held on June 10, was won by
Robert Dunlop (Hon). Rutter also beat
Simpson by six seconds to win the
Junior TT on June 10.
Team Kawasaki riders Martin CraggiJl
and Damon Buckmaster dominated the
fifth round of the Australian Superbike
Championship recently at Wanneroo
Park in Western Australia. Buckmaster
topped Craggill in the first leg, but
Craggill reversed the decision in the second race. Craggillieads the championship point standings'

Team Suzuki Winfield protege Jaimy
Scevenels will replace the injured
Werner Dewit on the 1998 factory Suzuki and will compete in the rest of the
250cc Motocross World Championship.
Heavy storm activity forced the cancelation of round three of the National
Championship Hillclimb Series, scheduled for Freemansburg, Pennsylvania,
June 14.

Reunion, held last week in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin, area. According to local
authorities, the Harley celebration was
expected to bring $120 million into the
Wisconsin economy.
According to a press release from Larry
Naston, the former AMA Supercross
announcer has been contracted to
announce the U.S. Open of Supercross
in Las Vegas, Nevada, in October. Naston has been spending the majority of
his time announcing on MRN Radio,
NASCAR's radio network.
Four-time National Observed Trials
Champion Geoff Aaron will lead the
four-member team that will repre ent
America at the 1998 Trial des Nations,
September 14-22, in Chiesa Valmalenco,
Italy, according to the AMA. Aaron will
be joined by Raymond Peters, Matt
Moore and Dennis Sweeten, with
Michael Byrant being named as the

he coalition of motocross race organizers known as the National
'Promoters Group (NPG), a select group of industry sponsors,
series title sponsor Mazda Trucks and the AMA have ,together
amassed the largest prize fund in the history of motocross racing, according to an AMA press release issued lune 8. An uprecendented $700,000 in
cash awards is up for grabs this year by the riders in the AMA/Mazda
Truck Motocross Nationals.
"This huge pool of prize money is just the latest in a series of
upgrades that are raising the standards in motocross racing," said Merrill
Vanderslice, director of competition for AMA Pro Racing. "We applaud
the National Promoters Group and au the sponsors for supporting those
who make the sport what it is - the riders."
The NPG ~ which organized a cadre of sponsors and raised $200,000
in season bonuses alone - consists of the local race organizers for the 12race series. Series title sponsor Mazda Trucks has posted another $100,000
attracted record crowds. I believe this is a direct result of the efforts of the
NPG and our sponsors, plus the growing presence of our sport on televi~on."
