- SHOW YOUR STUFF!. enjoyed a 10-bike-length lead, Head and Finachario battled for second. On the last lap, pushing hard, Archuleta motored by Finachario for third and began an assault on second. With only a few corners and a whoop section 10 go, Archuleta was able to get past Head for second and lake the overall win with 1-2 finishes for the day. "It was reaHy slick and dusty oulthere," Archuleta said, "but I'm glad I was able to recover from my not-so-great starts." Sekich's 4-1 collected the runner-up spot, with Head going 2-3 for third. Sikich claimed fourth and James Funk went 7-4 for fifth overall. In the 250cc C class, Tom Velasquez, a carpenter by trade, brought his RM down from Steamboat Springs, hammered the competition and nailed down the overaIJ with a 1-1 sweep. MAY 16 Hart Racing's Brian Shirley led the 600cc and Open classes wire to wire to claim both class wjns at the Pete.rsburg Half Mile. Shirley's closest competitjon carne from William Natusek and Brad StegaIJ in the 600cc Pro Sport class. Natusek and StegaH followed Shirley into the first tum. but by the third lap, Shirley began to pull away and took the win by several bike lengths. Natusek did see VIctory in the Vet class, though, and Shirley rode a Hart Racing H-D 883 to the Open-class win. Joson Goodwin and Dan Bond followed Shirley into the winner's circle. After having problems in his hea~ Jeff Miller took the lead on the third lap and held on to win the Senior-class main. Rob Pearson and J~h Toungett squared off in the 12Sec class. Toungett got the holeshot and led Pearson by a bike length after the first lap. After switching up the lead for a few laps, V00Doo Racing'S Pearson took charge on the fourth lap, holding a three-bike-Iength lead the rest of the way to the checkered. The 250cc final saw Pearson and Toungett match up again as two of the top riders in the field. This lime, Pearson got the holeshot and led the entire race, wilh Toungett finishing a close second.
