Tupa tastes victory at Racing
Enterprises Motocross
In the first moto of the 125cc Junior class,
lone KTM rider Stoner pulled the holeshot
aroong a sea of Yamahas. YZ-mounted Tupa
was trying to make up ground after a so-so start.
Up front, Stoner was holding a strong and
steady pace and I ked to be in control Stoner
took the checkered flag for the win; however,
Tupa put in an outstanding ride, slicing and dicing his way to second place.
in moto two, the roles were reversed, as this
time Tupa blasted his Yamaha out of the gate and
into the lead, while Stoner was mired back in the
pack. Tupa was shrieking around the track as he
kept his bike on the boil and opened up a commanding lead. Stoner was trying to work his way
to the front, and in his desperation he crashed
while trying to pass slower riders on an off-<:amber hill. During the next few laps, Stoner took two
more soil samples, and his hopes for the O\'erall
win were dashed. Tupa crossed the line with the
moto-two win and the overall. Stoner finished
fourth in the moto and earned second overall.
Meanwhile, n-year-olfl Mark 8lakely mixed it up
with the young guys and claimed a consistent
third in both motos to earn third overall.
"I forgot to take my Geritol this morning, so
I had a hard time keeping the pace," Blakely
said
In the Vet Pro class, Gordon Ward thumped
his way to the win in both motos on his Up-Tit~
backed four-stroke Husqvarna. Willy Musgrave
kept him honest on his four-stroke Yamaha, but
he could never get close enough to seriously
challenge for the lead.
