Copenhagen Racing has signed on as the presenting event sponsor of the AMA 125/250cc National Motocross Championship. In addition, Copenhagen will sponsor the Copenhagen Racing Pro Privateer Challenge, a contingency program which awards prize money at each of the 12 events to the top ·two finishing privateers in both the 250 and 125cc classes. ABC will air the race at 5 p.m. (Eastern), immediately following its coverage of the Talladega NASCAR Winston Cup race. Paul Page, the voice of the Indianapolis 500, 'and regular ESPN2 announcer and 1993 AMA Supercross and National Motocross Champion David Bailey will announce the race, with Art Eckman and Davey Coombs providing on-track announcing. "PACE Motor Sports is certainly excited with the opportunity to showcase the world's premier motorcycleracing series on network television," said Gary Becker, CEO of PACE. GFI Racing has scheduled the 125cc and 250cc races for the GFI Winter Series North/South Showdown on April 26 at Perris Raceway later in the day than is usual to accomodate riders returning from the Dallas Supercross. The shows begin with a preview of the 1998 season, scheduled to air on May 26 at 9 p.m. (Eastern). The first round, scheduled for Mosport on June 7, will air on June 23 at 9 p.m. The Canadian National Road Racing Championship consists of seven races at six venues. across Canada. Acclaim Sports will debut its "Supercross '98 featuring Jeremy McGrath" video game in May. The game, which is designed exclusively for the Sony Playstation, includes tracks and bikes designed by McGrath. 'Vintage Dirt Track Racers Association Inc. has announced the completion of its reorgpnization to a nonprofit Colorado corporation and has released its 1998 Vintage Classics XI Dirt Track Racing schedule.
