"lr~. ,~'\:1J," Doug Blackwell (Yam) posted the overall win in round four of the AMA National Championship Hare Scrambles Series in Goodsprings, Pennsylvania, on April 19. Finishing second was Michael Lafferty (K1M), followed by Brian Garrahan (KTM), Duane Conner (G-G) and Patrick Timothy (Kaw), in that order. Blackwell currently holds down the series points lead with 85 points, followed by Lafferty with 79 and Brian Garrahan with 76. Geoff Aaron (Bet) won the AMA/NATC National Observed Trials Series round in Aguanga, California, on April 18. Finishing second to Aaron was Raymond Peters (G-G), followed by Ryon Bell, (Mon). The following day at the same site for the El Trial de Espana, Tommi Ahvala (G-G) carded the win, followed by Peters and Jess Kempkes (Yam), Dustin Nelson (Yam) and Nathan Woods (Yam) .. Doug Lampkin (Bet) is proving unstoppable in the World Championship Observed Trials series. At round two, in Hawkstone Park, England, April 18-19, Lampkin took the double win with ease. On Saturday he beat Marc Colomer (Mon) and countryman Graham Jarvis (Sco). Then, on a rainy Sunday, lampkin topped Jarvis and Kenichi Kuroyama (Bet). Ty Davis and Donnie Book (Yam) tea.med up to win the Best in the Desert Tonopah 300 in Tonopah, Nevada, on April 18. The Davis/Book duo finished three minutes ahead of the runner-up team of Dave Ondas and Destry Abbott (Kaw). The third-place finIshing team was made up of James Summers and Shane Esposito (Yam), and finishing behind them were Oakley Lehman and Brian Brown (Kaw). Rounding out the top five was Johnny Campbell (Hon), who soloed the event. The 27th annual NMA World Mini Grand Prix was run at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, April 15-19, and expe- . rienced a record number of entries, with more than 2000 compet'itors on hand. Some of the big winners were Ivan Tedesco (Yam) in the ultra-competitive 125cc Intermediate and 125cc Open classes; Mike Alessi (Kaw/KTM), who swept all of his motos to win the 60cc (911) Stock and Modified and Super Pee Wee classes; and Joshua Hill, who gave KTM its first Amateur National Championship in the 60cc (6-8) Stock and Modified classes. In 80cc racing, James Stewart (Kaw) won the 80ee 02-13) Stock class, while Shane Bess (Kaw) took the championship in the 80ce (1213) Modified division. In the Pee Wee division, Michael Hall (Cob) took the 50cc (4-6) Stock and Modified classes, Bruce Ruthtrford (KTM) won the 50cc (7-8) Modified class and Brandon Large (Cob) took the 50cc (7-8) Stock win. Lance Smail (Hbg) won the opening round of the AMA/Western FourStroke Nationa!
