T
he 2020 outdoor AMA
Motocross Champion-
ship got started much like
the Supercross Championship
ended two months ago, with two
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Team
riders—Zach Osborne and Jason
Anderson—occupying the top two
tiers of the podium at Loretta Lynn's
Ranch, which hosted its first ever
Pro National. Unlike Supercross,
though, the team could "only" grab
two of the steps this time, not all
three as it did in Salt Lake City, but
the Husqvarna crew was still quite
happy. The non-Husqvarna rider
on the Loretta podium was third-
place Monster Energy Kawasaki's
Eli Tomac who got off to a shaky
start in the first moto but rebounded
nicely in the second.
A lot of questions were answered
here today, including: would an
"amateur" track (which it was origi-
nally designed for), make a worthy
racetrack for the pros? Based on
the number of passes that were
made on the day, the difficulty of
the track (which it very much was,
thanks to deep ruts from Friday
rain), and the fact that a good start
didn't guarantee you a podium at
the end of the day seemed to show
that it was indeed a great track for
the pros to compete on.
"It turned out better than I expect-
ed," said Tomac.
"I thought the track was really
gnarly, it shaped up better than I
thought it would; all in all, it was a
good racetrack," said Anderson.
Zach Osborne won the last
Supercross race and now
the first outdoor National.
Osborne was fast and
made the least number
of mistakes on the very
technical and difficult
Loretta Lynn's track. He will
go into the Loretta Lynn's
II race next weekend with a
ton of confidence knowing
he held off Eli Tomac in the
second moto for the win and
overall with a 2-1.
