IIIMY OWN RACE: 24 RJ HAMPSHIRE 2ND (3-2) 250MX "I wish we could have go en a win but that felt good," Hampshire said. "I tried to hang on, but Dylan was riding really good, and I just had to se le in otherwise I would have been on my head. I'm happy to be up here, thank- ful to be here." 25 MARVIN MUSQUIN 5TH (4-5) 450MX Marvin Musquin was impressive in his 2020 debut. He hadn't raced at all since the last Na onal in 2019 due to a knee injury. "It's great to be back a er almost a year since my last race at the Indiana Na onal," Musquin said. "I put in some good work and it gave me me to get ready, so I'm okay where I'm at. To be out there and to be com- pe ve, that's exactly what I wanted. When you're not racing for a year, I didn't know where I was going to be, but overall, I'm happy. I wish I would have hung on to get on the podium." MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1 / AUGUST 15, 2020 LORETTA LYNN'S RANCH / HURRICANE MILLS, TENNESSEE P54 moto's end. Tomac eluded to hav- ing suspension setup issues, say- ing he was struggling to "hang on" and "went back to old things we knew" for the second moto. This seemed to work. The next time out, he went from eighth to sec- ond, which was good, but he still couldn't catch moto-two winner Osborne, which answered anoth- er question: yes, someone can, Another question was: would the three-time 450MX Champion and newly crowned Supercross Champion, Tomac, simply annihi- late everyone and leave everyone else racing for second place like some were predicting? Well, no, as it turned out. Tomac went back- ward instead of forward in the first moto, running as high as fourth before sliding back to seventh by (Above) Joey Savatgy (17) returned from injury, as did Marvin Musquin (25). Both rode well. Fredrik Noren (31) grabbed the first-moto holeshot, but it was Anderson (21) who shined. Cooper Webb (2) had a quiet day with a 5-8 (and a sore back). (Right) Jason Anderson flat out smoked everyone in the first moto but suffered arm-pump in the second moto. A 1-6 gave him second overall which is nice, but he's still looking for that first 450MX overall victory.
