threw it away, losing precious time to the consistent Atkins. Atkins continued his mistake-free
ways to take the opening-moto win. Zarda
regrouped and held off a charging Fhuere for
second, while Johnson finished a lonely fourth.
Kevin Hall rounded out the top five aboard his
Suzuki.
Yamaha rider Keith Underhill, who had a
forgettable sixth-place finish in the first moto,
turned things around to grab the holeshot in
moto two, ahead of Atkins, Fhuere and Johnson.
Underhill, from Hill Oty, Kansas, held the point
until lap two, when Atkins took over and set sail
for the win. Underhill seemed to feed on Atkins'
momentum and maintained the blistering lead
pace until the latter stages of the moto. On lap
three, Johnson displaced Fhuere for third and
the top four stayed the same until the finish.
Atkins topped the list with 1-1 perfection, while
Johnson's consistent 4-3 scores earned him the
second-place money. Third overall went to
Fhuere with a 3-4, while Underhill's 6-2 and
Hall's 5-5 rounded out the top five.
