A Victory Sports Indoor Winter MX Series, MA Rounds 11 &1 2. Shue . A packed ho use of specta tors we re perched on th e ed ges of their seats for nonstop actio n as ride rs from 12 states ca me fro m as fa r as Pen ns yl van ia , Michigan, Ohi o, Alabama and Florida, as well as the states su rro unding No rth Carolina. Both Pro classes rode multiple qu alifi ers, as d id several other classes, includ ing Supermini. • Ind oor MX Series points leader Shu e enjoys healthy lead s in both the 125 and 250c c A cla sses, padded even more thanks to his satisfying weekend. At the start of Friday's 125cc A main ev en t, FMF / Goa t / AXO-backed Shue jumped out front and was gone, leading every lap to th e checkered flag. Ne xt cam e the pair of Kawasakis piloted by Georgia' s Sh ae Bentley and Florida' s Ja son Thomas. Winters Marketing / Amway-backed Marcus Hedrick battled with Kingsport Su zuki's Jon Boruff, whil e Todd Bennick began his march to the front from a seventh-place start . Midway throughthe 12-lap main, the leaders began to encounter lapped tr affic. Shue, Bentley, Thomas a nd Boruff slipped through, but for Hedrick and Bennick it was a different s to ry. Coming o ver th e midfield ser ies of jumps, Bennick tripled and H edrick didn't. Unfortunately, Bennick landed directl y on top of Hedrick, w heel on helmet. Hedrick was o u t cold fo r a while, but managed to walk off th e track with mu ch help as the race ended. Needless to say, Hedrick was out for th e rest of th e even ing . Benni ck remounted and managed to fini sh in seven th. Boruff pulled th e hol esh ot in th e 250cc A main o n Friday night, with Shue's Suzu ki a streaking yellow shadow the whole way. Boruff's bikes are strictly stock and one is e ven a used woods bike, bu t be tha t as it may, Boruff was able to hold off all of Shue' s determined challenges to take the 250cc A wi n. Bentl ey, Tho mas and Boruff's Kingspo rt Su zuki teammate, Chad Newton, filled out the top five. After a night of rest, Hedrick lined up with the rest of the 125cc A entries for the two qualifiers, finishing second to Shue in their d ivision. S '1 feel okay, ready to ride," Hedrick ass u red . "Nothing broke last nigh t on me - I guess because I had no id ea Todd (Bennick) was going to d o tha t (land on him), so I d idn't tense u p at all . That' s something, anyway." Sa turday's ru nning of the 125cc A main was almost a yawner after Friday's exci te ment. Sh ue again grabbed the lead, followed by Thomas, Bentley, Hedrick and the Suzuki of Team Shocker/Goat/ FMF's Chad Kresge. They fin ishedin tha t order, having rema ined in position for all 12 laps, de nying Bennick and Boruff any cha nce of a pass to break into the top five. Boruff rep eat ed his 250cc A ma in event holes hot from th e night before, covered by Hed rick, Shue, Thomas, Bennick and Kresge. As Boruff flogged his RM250 ou t in front, Hed rick and Shu e ban ged bar s all ar ound th e track close beh ind . Beginning on lap two, th e pair of Suzu ki aces slid around the slick tum into the whoops, side by side and on the ragged edge of control. In fact, once into the wh oop s, control went out the wi nd o w as H ed r ick' s m a chin e to ok a n angular route in front of Shue, who happen ed to be in th e a ir at th e tim e. Of co u rse b raking was imposs ib le, a nd Shue plowed right into Hedrick, se nd ing Hed rick an d his motorcycle, separ a tel y, clear to the other side of th e track. Shue was able to remount soo ner and finish ed eigh th in spite o f a slip pe d patella. Hed rick slow ly crawled back on the Suzuki, and putted aro un d with his clut ch dangling uselessly from the bars. Until th e last lap , Hedrick was still not in las t pla ce, as tw o o ther riders had cras hed after his own inciden t. But on the next-to-last lap, rolling over the fin ish-line jump, the bike quit. Meanwhile, Boruff cru ised to th e win, while Thomas, Bentley, Kresge and Bennick wr angled beh ind him for runner-up. Bentle y turned in a great rid e, recovering from at least eighth to claim the second spot. F&S Suz uki/Performance Engineering / AXo-backed McGourty easily handled both the 85cc 02-13) and Super mini classes on Friday, and repeated the 85cc performance on Saturda y. The Su permini division, however , was not so easy . In Saturday' s Supermini main , Suz uki of Gastonia's [erred Burrell of Can ton, North Carolina, pulled th e hol eshot, hounded by McGourty, Georgia rid ers Joshua Davis and Dou glas Thomason , Burrell' s teammate Zach Miller , an d Bradley Robertson of Burnsville, No rth Carolina. Burrell looked go od to hold off McGou rty until he slid out, leaving the d oor wid e open for seven other riders to blas t by before he rem ounted in eighth. McGourty blazed to the win, follow ed by Thomason, Dav is, Robertson (u p from sixth ) an d Kentucky's Just in Jon es (Ro be rtson' s nemesis). In th e Interm ediate A class , Yamaha -mounted John Bourd eau and James Mill er wer e tied going in to the th ird loop, but the 50-yea r-old Bourdeau di dn 't let tha t faze him a bit. Bour deau 's two point s to Miller' s four in th e third loop showed Bourdeau 's determination to keep his feet s tuc k on the pegs when he ha s to. The m ost difficult section was num ber eigh t, which en tered over a 2-foo t rock, m ad e a rig ht turn over an oth er rock and then a left up a hill, then making a wid e righ t tum and a left over a 3-foot
