Jones would ventually fade back 10 sixth. The man on the move was Cliff Jennings aboard his Pro Valveacked YZ250. Jennings sta rted outside the top 10 a nd p u t on a w hoop-section cli nic as he assed riders in bunches through the whoops. ennings eventually wo rked his way up 10 the podium position. Meanwhile, out in front , Hash was all business, taking the molo win as mendola ran oul of time and finished seco nd. In mo to two, it looked like Hash was going 10 run away with il as he grabbed the, holeshol, ut Amendola nailed a second-place start and was right on Has h's rea r wheel. The two immedia lely broke away from Ihe pack. Amendola worked his wa y past in the whoop section, bul Hash quickly retaliated. Amendola kep i the psessure up and soon reclaimed the lead for good. Hash was in a very comfortable second al the checkers. Dan Leahy p ut in an excellenl ride, wo rki ng his way from Ihe back 10 ta ke th ird. Again, Jennings was the man on the m ove, coming from way back in the field to finish fourth, which gave him third overall on the da y. Amendola 's victory over Hash in the second moto gave him the nod on the po ints and the overa ll victory.
