Kaleb Northrup h"d another good day on his

Tim e award on his British bea uty, and added a
fourth c1a~s wi n on his Sportlan d Yamaha.
Nort hrnp'~ Fa~t Ti mt" was his fourth of the

pushrod en~ines are still quite capable of run·

th~ hiUclimbing wurld. "Fa!>t" Andy Fortner had
one o( his typically good days, cla iming three

Northrup's ~rst win ca~ in the Open class ,
wht>rP h~ pextt-d hm~ of 3.474 and 3.427 seco nds,
ed ging the King C ity president, Steve Mu llins ,
who stopped th... cloc k in 4.049 seco nds for the
seco nd -place spot. His Fast Time, howCVCf, came
on hh. fU'Sot rid~ in the Pushrod class, a blistering
3.758-sccond high flight over the top . And just to
show it wasn't a flu~, ~ tumt."d in a 3.814-secnnd run o n his SE"C'O nd run . Steve Shafer de livered
a gOOl..i 4.1QO-second tim e on his Ha rley (or second pla re. Sha fer turned his Harley o ver to his

Mark Goodman picked up wins in the 250cc
and 400cc Exhibition classes '. His 4,153-second
time on his KX2S0 in the 250cc class was good
enough to slip by tbe cu rrent class point leader,
Anthony Dcl-iart , who posted a 4.176 -second
time o n his Honda. Goodman then turned an
even faste r 4JJ23"S4..'COnd time in the 4(K)cc exhi bition on his Kawasaki to again ed ge Del-iart,
who was C'l0St" a gain with a 4 .~nd run.
Th e star o( the day, however, .....as probably
7-ye ar-old Mark Matthews . Riding a Su z u ki
JRSO a utomatic, Matth ews actually cleared the
top of the hill, the onl y 50cc auto to ever accomplish this feat. Need less to say, the crowd lo ved
