Expert/Pro-Am riders on hand, Gomez got
plen ty of tra d: time in the quest for victory in
the upcomin g AMA Hoi Shoe National Gomez
put together a solid ride to nab a win in the
600cc Pro-Am class, where he beat Todd Hagmann, Gabhart, Frank Marker and Josh Currey.
Rolax-mounted Eric Beers won the Open A
main, proving that patience is a virtue: It took
four restarts to get things under way. Just as on
the lim take, Kim MdCillop grabbed the lead on
the fourth restart and led for much of the opening lap. Beers, though. quickly took it away. followed by Aaron Weston - both relegating McKillop to thi rd .. where he'd finis h in the to-rider
final .

though. was thwarted by Joke Holden's last-lap
challenges in the 250cc A main after Beers had
led the first seven laps. Holden scored a narrow
win ahead of Beers, Kurt Hawk, Robert Rosie
and Bria n McGonigal.
Jeff Annen led rookie Expert Beau Brown,
Simonsen, Lonny Kopp and Del Schnitzer on the
firs t of I S laps of Expert com petition. Early on,

Chris Waite flnallzed an impressi ve weekend by scoring a pair of wins in the 80 and 125cc
A mains. Also posting wins were Roby Haycock
(SOJurtior), Chris Celorie (SO Seni or ) and Andy
Fay (6Occ) in small-w heel action.
