abelle Racin g' s Dav e Sad owski wa s
o n a mission th roughou t th e weekend, a miss io n that incl uded .wi nnin g both Fo rmula USA events and conti n ued wit h his d eci sive EBC Brakes
Sp ortbike victory, When the green flag
fell, Sad ow ski sho t ou t like a rocket and
simply could n't be tou ched . Zlock Racin g' s Eric Wood took a very -alone secand pl ace, going unchallenged for th e
positi on . Labell e Racing' s Jason Fraser
was third afte r he finally passed Da ve
McGrath, with w ho m he'd been doing
battle th roughout the race. McGrath fell
into fourth pla ce right behind Frase r. In
his d ebut with Formula USA , N ielsen
Racing' s Ma rk Junge held off Tripl e R
Racing's Mar k Reed fur fifth place .
Sadowski checked ou t and left a "do
not distu rb" sig n at the start/ finish line.
During th e race, Sadowski turn ed lap
tim es two seconds below his qualifying
time and was simply untouchable.
"The winning com bina tio n consists
of two aspects, " Saduwski sa id. "One,
ride smoothly; and seco nd, d on' t make
any errors"Thi s track has a lot of traps.
lf you try and pick up speed in certa in
areas, it will bite you. I just keep aware
of th is and try and no t m ake a ny
errors."
Sadowski followed his philosophy
and won by a comfortable seven-second

Wood tried to reel in Sadowski but
was well d uwn on power and settled for
second place.
"Unfortuna tely, ou r motor is ge tting
a little tired and Ski had a little gru nt on
me," Wood said. "If Ski has any ad vantage on you, your day is over because he
will ex p loi t you r weak nesses . GMD
Computrack got the sus pensio n perfect,
but suspens io n a lo ne is no t go ing to
bea t Ski."

fight a mo ng themselves. First it was
Mc.:Grath towing the two around ; however, McGrath bobbled a cuuple of tim es
a nd Fraser went ar ound him, never to
surrender third again.
"McG ra th was m ak in g so me rni stakes," Fraser sa id . "But it was way too
la te to ca tch Eric, and McGrath wa sn 't
going away."
Fraser didn't get the most beneficial
start bu t qu ickl y m ov ed th ro ugh th e
field and wa s co ntend ing fur third by
lap three.
" It took a cou ple of laps to adjust
back to the 600 from the Honda 900, and
by the time I go t up to speed, the lead ers
checked out," Fraser said . "I'm fortunate
to put the Carter Hu nda un the box."
McGrath, on the o ther ha nd , had
third p lace to him self u n til lap four,
when Fraser passed him on the brakes
entering th e i nfield off of the back
straight.
" I w a sn' t leading very well,"
McGrath said . "Fraser was sitting on me
and we we nt back and forth a couple of
times. I'm not on the bo x but I love raeing."
The secund pocket uf ba ttle w as
bet w een Triple R Racing' s Reed a nd
N ie lse n Ra cin g ' s Jun g e . In the e nd ,
Junge finished in fifth and Reed in sixth,
but Reed wa s rig ht there until the end.
Each rid er wo uld gain the ad vantag e on
different par ts of the track, Reed taking
it enteri ng the infield, whil e Junge held
ou t longer on the brakes entering turn
one. 6 ne clear po int wa s that the bikes
were very equal in th e power department, as neither cou ld pull away from
the other .
"O u r bikes are very close," Reed
sa id . " I was able to pass Junge o n th e
back straight, but he go t me back. I was
getting a little mo re rear-en d slip compared to Jun ge and he stayed in fron t."
Junge d id well in his F-USA debut
despite problemsgetting his bikedialed
in .
" I w ent ba ckw ard s w it h se tu p b y
selecting the wrong gea r," Junge said. "I
chose a gear tha t is sui ted for d raftin g,
bu t I d idn't do a lo t of d raft ing. And the
gear I se lected d idn't offe r the power I
needed to exit the corn ers . However, it
was Hi gbee's Buell tha t kep t me awake.
Every time I would go into a comer, I
could hear the thunder from his mo tor
and it wa s scary. "
