Tresser, wh o passed away last week as a resul t
of injuri es sus tain ed at a race track in the Midwest. Ch ris Marquis pr oceeded with a tribute
and s on g in memory of Tresser, who was a
Cycle Bowl regular.
Derrick Ponton> "Froggy" to the Lodi regulars - was the big winner that nigh t, taking wins
on bo th the short trac k and 1T in the tlllcr: class .

Th e lO-year-old ha s been racing a t the Cy cle
Bo w l fo r five years now , payi ng his d ues
th rou gh the Pee Wee ranks up to the h igh ly
competitive 60ce class. Pon ton has done ba tt le
with w oodland 's Ryan Kuntz on a weekly basis,
scoring several IT wins th is season, but coming
up short on the oval. Toni ght, Ponton put everything to get her an d a bsol utely wa lked away
from the com peti tion, putting on a heart-stoppin g outside-pass, full-throttle, feet-on-the-pegs,
s id ew ays maneuver ar ound Kuntz at the tree
tum.
" I got up se t because) got o ff the line
wrong," reflected Po nt on of his horsepower
mov e. .., gave it all I got, an d my dad has been
coachin g me about passing, and Its been wo rking for me."
Gerry Tenret, anotht"r veteran wi thin stri king d istance over the last several weeks. pulled
off a wire-to-wire victory in th e Pro-Am short
track ma in ev en t. Tenret aced the ho leshot over
Bob Casey, the master of the starti ng line, and
then kept his composure and rode a smart race
to victory.
"fina lly, we pull ed it off ton ight with the
right combination of everything. " said a jubilant
Tenret. "We' ve been tr ying t"very week, and
Dale (Lineaweaver ), my tun er, wor ks his butt off
all th e time . Every week we come ou t her e to
p u t on a good show, and this week we set up the
bi ke so it wouldn ' t hook u p as much coming off
tum fou r, and it rea lly paid off,"

It is worth. noting was that Tenr er's victory
carne on a Husa berg - a Lodi first !
Toby Jorgensen brought the cro wd to its feet
as he carne from behind to win round nine of the
Coors Cu tt er Shooto u t Se ries on the TT track.
Modesto's Michelle DiSalvo scored the holeshot,
with Matt Gomez Sr., Rob Damron a nd [o rg~ns~n in tow. With three lap" in the books,
Damron dropped Gom ez to third, and then joegensen di splaced Go mez to fourth. Three laps
later, Jorg ensen executed an ou tsid e pas.. . around
.
Damro n to take over the second spo t, then gra d ua lly reeled in DiSalvo, By the halfway flags,
j o rg e nse n had passed DiSalvo, th e n cruised
horne to his fourt h victory in the t o-week se ries.
A win nex t week by Jor gensen will clinc h the
series, while a win by Mark Key will dead lock
the series into a tie. Sho u ld this hap pe n, a tw oman tr ophy da sh to determi ne the winner is
ine vitab le.
