4.88. Zander chose to stay centered for
his second pass, where he came up a
few feet short on the double but managed to absorb the landing as he proceeded to clock an improv ed 4.552,
good enough for a third-place finish for
the rookie rider.
" Ma n, things really came together
today," Zander said. "We had two great
rides, the second one being even faster,
which put us in third place, and man,
we're just pumped!"
Steve Dresse r of the Professional
USA Hillclimb Team had his Reiserbuilt Harley-Davidson over the jump
and he blasted through the lights for
timed fir st ride of 4.91. But Dresser's
return visit to the hill w as more successfu l, as he rocketed through the timing
beam and then dashed in to the trees,
hitting one - but only after clocking an
improved time of 4.349. It would be the
second-best run of the day in the BOOcc
cla ss, al though it ca me at a price, as
Dresser did require medical attention
for an injured righ t shoulder.
"Just a matter of finding a good line
out of the ho le," Dr esser sa id . "Got a
real goo d holeshot, real nice approach,
and felt real good over the jump. It's just
one of those days where, again, it's
another dangerous top of the hill that's
hurt people."
On his winning run, th e happy-golucky Price got hi s Miller Loggingba cked Harley rolled in to the starting
box and launched, staying straigh t and
using body English. He rocketed off the
jump, landing long and hard while still
aboard. His fron t wheel then nosed into
the track, and Price took a tumble. As
hill workers ran to Price's aid, the winded rider got to his feet, removed his hel- .
met, and, knowing he had given a good
p erfor mance, waved his fist, showing
the crowd he was okay. Over the cheering crowd, the announcer shou ted th e
4.224-second time, which would not be
beaten.
"Actually, I just kind a look forward
to putting out there for myself, no t what
everyone else is doing," Price said. "It
jus t lays out the re real nice, so there it
was. I can ' t thank my sponsors enough:

Body Shop, Lou Gerrencer, Jeff Yoder,
and all of these fans out here."
The day's eve nts wo und up producing a thr ee-way tie in the poin ts battle
for the 800cc class title. Greg Williams
placed se ve n th for the event, behin d
fifth-p la ced James Large. With Steve
Dresser's second-p lace finis h, all three
riders are now deadlocked in the series
stan dings with 74 points each.
The 540cc points race is also a dead
hea t. Pinsonnault and Soter are ev en,
with 82 points , followed by Mike Templeton, who finished sixth today with a
total of 62 points.
