And y was one of our LOOi guys, bu t even if he weren 't, we would still have been proud of h im . No t o n ly w as he a g reat d irt tracker, bu t he was a grea t sportsman and ambass ad o r to th e spo rt. H e wa s alwa ys pa tient and positive, never saying a harsh word tow ard anyone. Our hearts go out to the Tresser family, as mot orcycling ha s los t one of it s finest racers . Godspeed, Andy. It was a shock to hear abo ut Andy Tresser' s fatal accident. He was one of the nicest !"-'Ople to ever race a mo to rcycle . It was alwa ys a p lea su re when Andy would s ho w up at th e Lod i Cycl e Bowl. He always too k the time to talk and discuss racin g mat ters, or to help someone else set up their mot orcycle . And then he wo old ge t on the tra ck and shine. And y will be so rely m issed by u s all. We ex tend ou r d eepest sy mpathy to his fa mily and frien ds. He left us too soon. . Rob To wnley, president Over The H ill Ga ng Lakew ood, CA Likes bikes, and Nancy I really enjoyed the featu re Larry Langley d id entitled "The O ther Side of the Fence" (Issue #31, Au gust 6) that showcased the bikes that the fans rod e to the World Su perbike race at Laguna Seca. It was in cred ib ly co ol to see that a lot more wo me n a re ri d i n g m otorcy cles now. I hope this will be a regular featu re in fut ure issues of Cycle News because it was very entertaining. Also. I re all y a d m ire r oa d r ace r .a ncy Delgado-fo r posin g in th e September iss ue of Play boy. Her pictorial wa s awesome and if she doesn' t continue on wi th motorcycle racing. she definitely has a future in mod eling. Kevin Hen riqu es Blythe, CA And more on 883s I ha ve enjoyed wa tchi ng th ose Harleys raci ng d o wn the fro n t s traig ht a t Loudon. I'm not really a Harley fan, but close racin g at 70 mph is always mu ch mo re fun than a blowo ut at 150 mph. I li ke to see p a ss ing and competition fro m th e AI:'IA. a nd th e SuperTwin s class has always provided that. The skill le vel ma y not ha ve a p pro ac hed Rich O liver ' s , but th e rac e w a s far m ore interes ting . Ho wever, I h a ve to take exce p tion to competitor Dave Es tok (Issue #30, Ju ly 30) when he sa ys. in an understandable reaction to the elimi na tion of the SuperT w"ins clas s. "1 gu ess th e AMA doesn't like Harle ys ." As a Cy cle N ews su bscriber for almost 20 years. I know wh at all of yo ur readers know - whi ch is that if th e AMA didn't li ke Harleys, dirt track w ouldn' t be dyi ng. Ev ery ti me another manufacturer design ed a d ecent dir t tra cke r, the AMA ca me u p w ith a nother rul e to perpetuate .a motorcycle design that wa s obso lete before I was born. Road raci ng is the on ly reason I read Cycle News, but I feel bad ly fo r racers like Scott Parker an d Ricky Graham . If no t for th e AMA, th ey wo u ld be perfo r m ing i n fro nt o f s u p e r cr os s -s ize crow ds o n a vari ety o f m a chi n er y desig ned in the '90s. Dave Esto k should check his back issues. I also w ould li ke to see some of the g roveling lost so u ls . w ho si t ready wi th th eir g u ns loaded, trad e in their bikes and ge t on a new o ne at the beginning of the season.
