Kady tops CRC Motocross By Greg Robertson PALMDALE, CA, APR 6 Of nearly 200 riders who turned out for the opening round of the California Racing Club's 20th annual Tei-Race Series at Los Angeles County Raceway, Ty Kady swapped moto wins with Team Chaparral's Travis Preston for the 125cc Pro overall win. Kady might have gained the 250cc Pro win also if not for a slight timesaving course change his part. In 12Scc Pro first-mota action Donald Upton won the drag race to turn one over Dustin Evans, Honda Troy's Casey Lytle and Kady. Kady got around both Evans and Lytle on the first lap only to overshoot a turn and hand second place to Preston, who caught Upton and pushed him for a few laps before slipping past the halfway point. Preston put a couple of seconds on Upton en route to the moto win. Lytle tried everything, including physical contact on the last lap, but couldn't get around Kady. Round two saw Upton get the start again witl, Kady, Preston and Lytle right there. Kady passed Upton within a lap. Upton kept Preston bay for the next four laps. Upton and Preston were side-by-side off the biggest double jump. Preston had the inside line for the next turn and stightly cut the track. He was all over Kady for the remainder the race. Kady took the win by mere inches. Preston was penalized for cutting the course, moving Upton into second-place with 2-2 finishes behind Kady. 13i11 Sauro picked up the first 250cc Pro mota win aboard his Mid-eities-backed Honda. Yoshitaka Atsuta finished second ahead of Kady, Takeshi Kolkeda and Upton. Upton's second-mota lead lasted for half a lap before Sauro passed in the whoop section. Kady moved into second when both Upton and Kolkeda messed up a double-jump landing and ran off the track. Kady chased down Sauro, then changed the track slightly, taking the lead. Sauro went down in the sand and dropped to sixth while Upton passed Kady on the final lap. Kady was docked a few positions for cutting the course, which gave Atsuta the overall win with 2-3 finishes.
